When they explain it like that, easy to see why we would only be separated by two spots.

Am I imagining things or was Gonzaga like top 5 to start the season.
They lost Karnowski to back surgery. He was a big part of anchoring their post play. They would still be a top-15ish team if he were healthy. They had close losses to Arizona, Texas AM, and UCLA. Not a bad roster of losses. I believe Karnowski was out for Arizona and UCLA.

SEC with 3 top 20 schools and Vanderbilt is receiving votes. I think Florida and LSU can make the tournament if they can finish at 11-7 or better (possibly 12-6 in LSU's case). That would put 6 SEC schools in the Tournament which would be progress. They haven't had more than 5 tournament teams since 2008.

LSU ain't dancing unless they just blow away the conference IMO. UF would have to try to NOT make the tourney with the schedule they have played . LSU is sooo talented but has the worst coach in all of basketball at any level IMO. Like you could draw a face on a random fruit and it would give more positive instruction then Jones does.

If it wasn't for Ben Simmons I would agree with you. I just think a 19-11 (12-6 SEC) LSU team will get a little extra bump by the committee since they have the biggest "star" in college basketball. The committee won't admit it but it will be a factor, subliminally or not. They got off to a great start with a win at Vandy, probably the most impressive win you can get in the SEC this year outside of a win at A&M or Kentucky.

The SEC will get 4 tops. Nobody outside of UK did anything positive in the pre conference. Yeah South Carolina is undefeated but their schedule was much weaker than Louisville's.

Kentucky and A&M are locks. If South Carolina wins 11 SEC games total (including SEC tournament win(s)) they will be in. That would get them to 24 wins and as far as I can tell, there has never been a Power 5 conference team left out with 24 or more wins. Vanderbilt will be in once they right the ship a bit when Kornet comes back, at least if the committee takes injuries into account as they should. Florida is a 10 seed in the latest Bracketology. That's five right there. LSU is the one that needs to "catch up" the most out of the SEC teams with realistic shots at the tournament and as mentioned, they've gotten off to a great start winning on the road at Vanderbilt.

I feel pretty confident the SEC will be getting 5 teams in at worst and 6 would not be unrealistic.

I'm not sure why FL is considered such a sure "they are in" by you, but otherwise I agree. I am not sold on FL or SC to be honest. SC will probably eek in barely, but FL didn't really do much OOC, lost to some good teams sure, but no really good wins so they have a lot of work to do to be in come March.
