There will never be another like Cawood. One of a kind.
I was at that game, didn’t bring a portable radio so I didn’t get hear him call it.
The Cats were probably a 2-3 TD dog for that game. They fought hard but lost 16-7.
I really do like Tom Leach but agree that Cawood stands alone for play by play calling greatness.

How many of us turned the sound down on the TV back in the day and listened to Cawood? 🙋🏻♂️ I did.

Play by play radio guys are pretty meaningless now. Every game is on TV.
Back in the day, Ledford was the only way to follow 65 percent of the games if you didn’t have season tickets. They were a necessity.

Didn't care much for Ralph either, but he was following a legend. Hard to measure up to that.
Ralph is a good guy, definitely bleeds blue, but just didn’t have the “it” factor to be a good play by play guy. In hindsight he was a just a transition figure between Cawood and Tom Leach.
