Cats vs Gouchos today @ 4:00 pm EST. UK will send Zack Brown out to face UCSB. Brown was the losing pitcher last Friday at Wofford.
These 2 teams faced off last season at UCSB, the Gouchos took the series 2-1, with UK salvaging the Sunday contest. Would love to see the Cats have a couple or three wins this weekend against some very good competition.

Great start for UK as UCSB goes down 1,2,3 with Zack Brown throwing only 7 pitches. Cats coming up in the bottom of the 1st.

Brown gives up a lead off triple, runner scores on an error, after a strikeout Gouchos get another hit to put runners on the corners. Runner scores on the groundout to Shelby. Gouchos get another clutch single, scores a run on a close play at the plate. Brown finally gets the final out of the inning, UCSB 3 UK 0 bottom of 2nd.

Neither team scores in the 3rd, Cats go down 1, 2, 3 and UCSB pitcher throws only 4 pitches in the inning. Still 3-0 Gouchos going to the 4th.

That's 3 E's by #2 in 4 games. That's turrible. You can't have that at the 6 spot if you plan of having a good team.

UCSB up 4-0 going to the 5th, in the bottom of the 4th White singled went to 2nd on a wild pitch, but could get no farther...... sad !

Brown needs to get a bit better if he wants to stay on Friday nights.

Seems like the Gauchos don't respect our ability to throw out runners. They are running like crazy. It's definitely not good when you give up back to back steals on two straight pitches.

We finally scratch in the bottom of the 7th, getting 3 runs, mostly due to UCSB walking several hitters. Trail 10-3 going to the 8th.

Final score UCSB 11 UK 4, a disapointing effort by the Cats to be honest. Brown continues to struggle on the mound, too many batters continue to strike out. 5 wild pitches by the UK staff today.
A somewhat bright note White had 3 hits, he seems to have righted the ship, Carson had a couple of hits also. Cats play loser of Bryant vs SDSU game tomorrow @ 4:00 pm.

This was one of the few very competitive top 25 type teams that we'll play in the pre-conference schedule. We really needed to be at least competitive. Unfortunately not much went right.
