after winning the first 2 games 3-2 and yesterday 6-2 in walk off fashion, can the Cats get the sweep. UK will send Kyle Cody out against Bama today. Cody has been pitching well of late, if the bats can ring to life a little earlier in the game, gotta like our chances.

I agree with your post. If UK can get the win today, I believe we would be what, 9-3 in Sec play. I think we go to Vanderbilt next weekend, so we need to win today.

Boy howdy, you are right BDC, we have EKU on Tuesday, Louisville on Wed. and then 3 in Nashville next weekend. That is a tough 5 game stretch. Every game is crucial for our post season chances !

Vandy at 7-5 in SEC, so a win today gives us a 2-game lead going to nashville. Also, we are tied with UF for second in SEC East (and overall SEC lead) and 1 game behind the gamecocks. South Carolina goes for the sweep against UT today and UF still has a tough one at home against Miss St.

I really wish I could listen to Price while watching the the games on SEC network. Nothing against the guys that do the streaming broadcast, but Price is just amazing.

Shelby makes a throwing error at third that costs UK a run in the first. 1-0 Alabama.

Wilson and White both hit bullets right at the centerfielder, and Shelby popped out to the catcher. Heading to the top of the 2nd, UK trails Alabama 1-0.

Tide hit Cody really hard in that inning. He needs to get his fastball in the bottom of the zone and stop leaving it up.

Well the good thing is that UK hitters have been squaring the ball up pretty well. The bad thing is that they have been unable to make any of those fall for hits. Along the same lines, the Alabama pitcher has only thrown 25 or 26 pitches through 3 innings. So, that's not a good thing. That should allow him to go pretty deep in this game. Hopefully some of those big hits fall somewhere that isn't leather.

Walk the 8 an 9 hitters to get to the top of the lineup... Sheesh...

Cody struggled a bit in that inning, but he did a great job getting out of it.

Bama gets another run in top of 8. Man on first, 1 out. 2-0.

Going to be very difficult to come back today, just can't seem to figure out the Bama pitchers this weekend.

I wish 20 could find another position besides the 6 for #2. He wears me out on defense.

Eicholtz's day is done after 7.2 innings. He was stellar to say the least. Left-hander Thomas Burrows coming in for Eicholtz. Henderson will pinch hit Dorian Hairston for Storm Wilson. Tyler Marshall is also pinch running for Squires.

They don't show the pitches at UK athletics but I counted only 77 for the Alabama starter. We were first pitch hitting all day.

Damn, if the wind was blowing as it was on Friday and Saturday, Shelby's ball was out of the park easily. Bad luck there.

I try not to be too critical of Henderson, but he was fully prepared to pinch hit Connor Heady for Riley Mahan had Becker reached. He was going to PH Heady simply because he's a right handed bat. Never mind the fact he's hitting .105.

First off, we have to make the routine plays. Shelby needed to make a routine throw, but he puts it into the ground and White can't handle it. That led to the first run. Can't have that in a weekend where runs are at a premium.

Have to give Cody a ton of credit for a great job today.

Bats... well... they were getting some good swings, but they just weren't falling. I would say I would like them to work the count more and try to get to the bullpen early, but the Alabama pitcher today was solid and he was throwing strikes. So, I can't be extremely mad at it. Just a tough loss, but glad we got the series.

This is ridiculous. Henderson could have pinch hit Arnold, a righty, for Mahan and then sent Heady in to play short. At least then we would have had a guy who is hitting .353 in the game. Of course, that would make too much sense. Of course, he didn't mind hitting Carson and Squires today simply because of the matchups despite the fact that runs have been hard to come by all weekend. So, he hits a guy that is hitting sub .200 and another one that is hitting right at .200 instead of a guy hitting .282 and another hitting .255.

Only got to hear the last 3 innings today, was the Bama pitcher that good? We may have gotten slightly over confident with winning the 1st two games, and did not focus like we should have at the plate.

Henderson conceded this game. He checked out. I'm sorry but the Troy Squires experiment needs to end. The offense approach today was a freaking joke. Alabama starter only through 68 pitches through 6 innings. This whole playing matchup baseball needs to stop. Henderson is a moron and has no business coaching in the SEC. Hey Mitch, wake up!

Based on the at bats, the plan appeared to hit the first pitch. It didn't work most of the day. I can't remember that many first pitch outs in quite a while.

Alabama has an excellent pitching staff. Their starters all have ERAs under 3.00. That's excellent. Compare that to UK's starters, which only have 1 pitcher under 3.00.

I am not positive of this, but right now our ERA is 3.83 (I believe before today's game). If it continues it might be the lowest team ERA Henderson has had at UK, or at least one of the top 3 lowest.

It's just not first pitch outs. I've never seen a team hit so many pop ups. It's been a long time since I've left the stadium after a series win feeling like we've lost it.

If you hang your hat on being a pitching coach and the best your teams era is a 3.83, you sir have failed as a pitching coach.

One thing I will add about the pitching staff. UK is halfway through the season and we still haven't settled on a weekday starter and our bullpen outside of Hjeille has no clue on what roles they play. Today is a case in point. No reason to bring Salow in to face a left handed batter.
