Not looking good for getting this one in. Thunderstorms starting about 2:00 pm CDT. If they do not get to play today, it will be Ole Miss on Thursday evening. Shame if they are rained out, this is a good ole Border rivalry that is always fun !

Yeah I saw the weather report, not looking too good for today. Maybe a blessing in disguise, need the extra time and rest before we head to Oxford !

Well that sucks, lose on a walk off. Looks like Strecker has shot his wad, giving up a double to the 1st guy he faces. He and Pop were the 2 weal links today, hats off to Logue and Salow for a fine job. Been better off to have been rained out !

Another great coaching job by our man Hendo. Looking at the box score Logan Salow faces 4 batters and K's 2 of them, gives up nothing, and is taken out for Strecker. The same guy who gives up the game tying HR, and a double Sunday to USC.
How many games better would we be this year with a coach who actually understands the game .

More terrible decisions today. Zach Pop has been bad all year. Not as bad tonight, but gives up an unearned run in the bottom of the 6th (immediately after we took a 2-1 lead in top of 6). Then Strecker nearly gives up a homerun to the first batter in the 9th and of course we lose. This season just sucks.

It is almost impossible to comprehend some of the stuff he does...

Bad loss to a team with an RPI of 101, however the Hoosiers have won now 17 of their last 21 games and lead the Big 10. They are most probably an NCAA tourney team, barring a late season collapse.
This would have been a good win, got us to 30 wins with still 7 games left. However, the hill got a tad bit steeper. On a bright note Zack Reks continues to thrive in the lead off spot, when White gets back, hopefully Thursday, we will be a better hitting team.

Why did Henderson take our Logue? He had gone 5 innings. Is that all that Logue is capable of pitching? If so, he does not need to be a starter and we should go ahead and try someone else on the midweek because we need to prepare for next year and find someone who can pitch the weekend. If he can only go 5 innings then he won't cut it on the weekend. I think he can go longer than that and Henderson just took him out. Was his pitch count high? He wasn't struggling and he was taken out at the top of the inning. Doesn't make much sense. He could have pitched into the 6th or 7th and we could have gone to Salow to close the thing out rather than having to use 4 pitchers.

Even though the players survived it on Sun how many did he use in a couple of innings with stupid matchup philosophy

We were lucky as hell to survive it on Sunday. I don't know how long Hjelle could go, but we had used Lewis, Logue, Strecker, and Salow before getting to him. Three of those pitchers threw a combined 21 pitches in 1.1 innings, with Salow and Strecker both only going a third of an inning. Hjelle pitched 4 innings and had thrown 67 pitches. Had we gone much further I imagine that Hjelle would show some signs of fatigue and we'd have to turn to someone like Pop, or another pitcher with an ERA over 5.00. At that point, we'd basically just be giving the game away. We're extremely lucky that it didn't get to that.

Also extremely lucky that South Carolina left 15 runners on base. Basically, we can thank the baseball gods... or curse them. Not sure if they did us a favor by letting us win or if they cursed us by saving Henderson's job.

He was doing fine, as was Salow. It is all about match ups with Henderson. Strecker and Lewis seem to have hit a bit of a wall. Pop, must be a relative of Hendo, because he keeps running him out there to get hit like a punching bag !
