Make up of game postponed earlier, in state rival 30 miles down the road. A game that UK needs,a loss would not do their RPI any favors.
Looks like Zach Logue will start for the Cats, he was outstanding in his last start, going 5 innings and getting the win against Dayton.

I saw in the game preview that EKU has a guy named Alvaraz batting .394 with 48 rbi, and another guy Nowlin has 16 HR's and 47 rbi...... Yikes !!

EKU beat MissSt earlier in the year...need to avoid the loss here.

It seems EKU always has some good hitters in their lineup. their record is 20-25, but they are dangerous. BTW in my OP, I said Logue pitched very well against Dayton, actually it was against Miami.
I see the Colonels are also pitching a lefty, so UK may hit more righty's tonight in the lineup.

Yes, I looked up that game, Eastern won by a score of 16-12 in 10 innings. That is a lot of runs to score on the road at an Sec ballpark. Makes one wonder why their record isn't better than 20-25.

UK up 2-0 going top of 3rd. Shelby and Hairston both got hits to get on 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Mahan then got a bloop single to right easily scoring shelby. Hairston foolishly tries to go home and gets thrown out at the plate for (yet another) baserunning error.

Wheels came off in a hurry in the T of the 5th 3 straight hits and a silly error by Becker. Logue out after pitching no hit ball for 4 innings, Pop now on the mound.

As expected, nothing comes easy. Now 4-4 after EKU hits a single to drive in a run. No outs. Pop is terrible, hasn't had a good outing all year. Season of disaster continues. four straight runs for EKU.

5-4 EKU. Wheels falling off.

In bottom of 6, Hairston hit by pitch with no out and then is promptly thrown out at second trying to steal. Why would anyone think his big ass could steal a base? SMH.

Eastern has now a 5-4 lead going to the 7th. Game has done a 180 degree turn, Cats look like a pup with it's tail between it's legs. No enthusiasm, EKU looks like they are winning the 7th game of the World Series. Hard to watch !!

5 hits against EKU. This is pure comedy if it wasn't so sad. I'm done, I'll continue to watch and root for wins this season, but Henderson has lost me these last 3-4 weeks.

Lost me 3-4 years ago...if MB can't see it is way past time for a change then let's just drop bb and give the scholarship money to another sport because it is quite obvious we don't care about being competitive in the sec

EKU beats UK 5-4. UK's futility in the mid-week continues. Thank goodness the Cats didn't schedule Kentucky Wesleyan, Bellarmine, or Centre this season given how UK has fared against in-state competition.

Inexcusably bad collapse the second half of the season. They should be better than this.

Unless I'm forgetting something, I think that UK has lost every single in-state game this year except for Morehead (and that was a battle). 0-2 against UL, 0-1 against WKU, 0-1 against EKU, and 0-1 against NKU.

TOTALLY PATHETIC! Our middle infield is a joke and our clutch hitting has been anything but! I am right there with ya Stuck......MB should fire Hendo right now!

Final EKU 5 Cats 4, UK blows a 4-0 lead and loses to the Colonels for the 1st time in 17 years. I am afraid this team, for whatever reason, has gave up the ghost.
South Carolina will sweep us unless the Cats get serious and focused, may get swept anyway.

We missed the boat by not getting Andy Green, he would have come a runnin. Now get Chris Burke on speed dial, actually he will probably replace Dave Serrano at UT after this season. The man knows baseball, and if the Vols are smart they have already contacted him !

Just think where UK would be had Cody and Beggs not come back.
And if you take Reed off the 2014 team they're easily the worst in the SEC. It's unbelievable that Mitch expects every sport to compete for championships but is perfectly fine letting the baseball team and his good buddy Henderson finish in the bottom third of the SEC every year.

I would bet you one thing and that is MB has NO list of people to replace GH..

I hate to admit it, but you are probably 100 % correct. Chris will be a fine head coach somewhere, his knowledge doing Sec games is obvious. Mitch has made hires for HC positions with no previous HC experience (Joker), but he most likely would not go with Burke, unfornautely.

You forgot MS...also don't think Henderson had any either did he?

Check out this old picture of Henderson that I found:

Serious question... how stupid is Henderson? Like scale of 1-10.

He starts Heady in right field... as though he has to find room for Heady in the lineup because of Heady's great bat. Then his dumbass pitches Pop, who gives up more runs than a marathon. This in a time of the year where we can't afford to lose any games, muchless one to a team with a losing record. Holy crap... it makes my head hurt just thinking about it.

Losing to NKU, WKU, EKU, and UofL all in one year should be a fireable offense. I know it's baseball, but still.

Henderson's contract ends next season. I would be shocked if Kentucky isn't worse next season. However, I don't see Barnhart firing Henderson after this season.

And there's still three SEC series left. There's really no reason to be optimistic for UK the next two weekends but that's why you play the games. As appalled as I was of Kentucky losing to EKU last night, I'm going to wait and see how the season plays out before putting the nail in the coffin.

I honestly don't know how we could be better. We lose our three best pitchers and no one is capable of replacing them except maybe Logue. Then you have Strecker, who is a senior, and will be gone, as well as Dwyer. So, we only return Lewis and Hjelle as reliable weekend pitchers and both of them have been bullpen guys. I don't think Hjelle is going to go from closer to starter. Lewis could be a starter, but it isn't great that he hasn't started at all, and I think he has to develop some secondary pitches. Logue has done well in like 2 starts and he'd be forced to the weekend. So, then you have to find at least one pitcher to be a weekend starter that has never pitched on the weekend. Daniel Tillo, Zach Pop, and Josh Smith are all guys that have that ability, but none of those guys have done well and Tillo and Smith have not started a game this season. We could be bad in epic proportions unless we get very lucky with our pitchers and find 2-3 that can do well on the weekend. Henderson has done little to nothing to develop our pitchers this year, so it makes you wonder who he will turn to.

Shelby improving over the next several weekends will determine whether he leaves this year or not. You also lose Hairston. So, we could do just as well, or better, offensively, but White is really the only one I trust at the plate for the most part.

I imagine that you're right that we won't fire Henderson this year, but I think it is blatantly obvious that he needs to be let go.

DT..when do you think ground will be broken on a new bb stadium? IF ,and I repeat IF, a new stadium is going to be built and GH is not going to be leading this program then the new guy needs to be in place to spearhead its construction and use it as a recruiting tool...GH cannot work on a one year contract so you either give him a new one or let him go after this season and start over with hopefully someone who can lead us to be highly competitive in the sec.

Damn, I was going to post the exact same thing, but you beat me to it. Yes, one game is meh, going 0-5 against in state teams is beyond ridiculous.

Mitch Barnhart, via email, told me they're still working toward securing approval to move forward with the project this summer. So it's still hard to say. They have design plans and know where they want to put it but there's still some hoops to jump through.

"Though we remain self-sufficient, operating with no state or university funds and with limited revenue from student fees, we operate in the context of a larger system at both the state and university level," Barnhart said. "We know how to navigate the challenges that come with that, but that process takes time. Because of that system and the fact that we fund our own facility improvements and have historically carried little debt, we have had to address our facility needs on a piecemeal basis."

So I would think in layman's term we are 3-4 four years away from a stadium being built (if at all as this goes back to Cohen's days) with the way UK operates so I guess it would make sense to hold onto GH...go figure that while others ..i.e. otis...continue to build and expand we are mired in spinning our wheels in the mud...go figure

It sounds to me like Barnhart is just throwing out a bunch of confusing excuses and hoping that we stop asking questions. I mean, there is no excuse for this taking as long as it has. However, I will say that I am impressed that Barnhart has not yet given Henderson a contract extension. This was probably a year where Henderson's team could play him to one, but they have been extremely disappointing and he is most definitely not deserving of one after this performance.

Not a lot of pressure here from fans or in the media like with JP so I say he gets 2-3 more years which will tell me it'll be a while on the stadium...???
