This is the week we should see at least one or two series with Barker?

Our oline must improve.

Our WR cannot continue to drop the first pass every game.

Our defense has not been able to tackle a QB for decades, needs to improve.

Our coaches can and must do a better job.

We are not nearly as uber talented as many thought, but we are better.

The defense came a long way tonight (just tackle the damn QB).

Ummm flip flopper, you were the main one defending PT the ENTIRE GAME. You were also the one who said Towles would leave early for the NFL.

All good valid points. I honestly think everything can be fixed.....except our O-Line; it is what it is: just not SEC level talent there.

Their QB was the Parade Magazine HS POY two years ago, I see why now. Defense was really good tonight, definitely has improved a lot since the first of the year and from last year, at least so far.

Don't think we see Barker til EKU. jmo

I hope it is sooner but you may very well be right.

Agree with all points, except I'd give barker the reins

You cannot do that, give him a couple series to prove himself, if he moves the ball keep him in and then give him the reins.

You just give him the reins and you kill your starter's confidence and if Drew isn't ready, now you have an even worse PT (potentially).

I'm afraid you are right but hope you are wrong.[winking]

Yeah it seems to be the non controversial pc type of move the staff will end up making. Give PT the Missouri game as a last ditch effort to remain the man. The following week, IF UK is blowing EKU out, Barker gets reps. If UK struggles to move the ball against them, Barker gets reps.

Unless the staff thinks that PT is fine or that Drew just isn't ready. I say give him real snaps against a good opponent, at home, early in the game.

Blowout game snaps will only result in handoffs.

What I don't understand is UK sticking with Baker and company if they drop balls/make terrible plays (Baker should have been flagged more than once blocking). UK has a lot of depth. Snodgrass/Montgomery/etc, give them a shot.

You simply cannot replace PT with Barker unless Barker comes in a few series and moves the offense in a very effective manner. As others have stated, to do so would destroy Pat's confidence, and you have to look at it like this: you replace him with Barker, name him your starter, then he goes down with an injury. Who is your QB then? The guy who lost the starting position.

No, you allow him to play a few series here and there to gain real game experience, and then if he really moves the offense then you could make a case for it....IMHO.

I'm just curious why ppl think they know more than the coaching staff and always think the unknown is always the best option..this is the M.O. of our fans. If barker was better he would play..period. the o-line needs to get better, towels getting sacked a million times isn't his fault..he could make more accurate throws, but it's correctable..why would you pull your QB to put an unproven in in a major sec gsme thinking he could do better..that's insanity. Our redzone defense is high caliber. Linebacker play was meh., and yes while we are getting there..florida athletes are still better in the Receiver position. It will get there in time. Dorian Baker frustrates me..but he also makes other catches. However, I don't know enough to why we keep calling draw plays. The rest of this is typical meltdown while UK continues to build

Well, I think they do it this way to hedge their bets in case they're wrong about or if Drew isn't ready. I

Yes, that why I think his first appearance will be in the EKU game. On the other hand, instead of destroying his confidence...a little playing time competition might get him in gear.

I understand. But if this qb has any confidence to kill he must close his eyes and ears when they review the game films.

I dont see any way they just bench PT and start Drew without playing him some first.

Stoops and company needs to throw more plays at teams in second half, instead..Ds learn our plays in first half..and adjust..when we dont throw more at them they arent expecting in second half..its how we get beat normally in second half

Destroy what confidence? Come on be serious. Look at the stats for the last 6 quarters. They don't exactly ooze confidence. Do what you have to do to win, period.

Towels plays with zero confidence anyway so how is benching him going to hurt him? Towels needs motivation to get better because he has shown no improvements since he took over. I can't guarantee that benching him will make him better but I do know playing him isn't making him better either.

Then you punish the team for his mistake. Baker is UK best and most physical receiver. Drops happen. Dorian Baker needs to be in the game every play. With out question.

Does PT have any confidence now? His play suggests otherwise.

And let me say for the record...I have made fun of folks calling for Barker to play in the first 2 games. Now I'm not so sure I was in the right to do so.
