Camp Cal

I'm actually looking forward to seeing how this team progresses during the open practice period that will start in a few weeks. With teams past I think Cal has used this as a way to tweak some things he has wanted to emphasize but this year I really think this is where the team is going to gel and form into a solid group. Lookikg forward to seeing the results on the court.

I don't see why he wouldn't participate. He should be here in time and even if he redshirts he will be allowed to practice with the team. An extra big for Skal to go up against while honing his skills would be very beneficial. I honestly wonder if the reason that Skal is a little behind where our other centers have been recently is the lack of a strong 'B' team. Recently, our second set of guys have been able to push our starters everyday. This year, not so much. You can learn defense in practice and you can learn your fundamental offense. But fighting through a WCS, a Towns or a Noel every single day is something that is hard to replicate.

I would love to see Wynyard come into practice and start laying into people on the boards. Maybe he can get some of our big men to fight a little more on the boards and for loose balls after he's knocked a few them around, lol. I really don't think he redshirts but I could be wrong.

Have you read anything on when he can join the team under NCAA rules? Probably something out there, but I've missed it. I assume he'd start practice as soon as he was eligible.

I agree on redshirting. Unless they'd expect him to be a 4 year layer, I'm not sure what point it would serve.

Geoff Goodman just reported he will be redshirting this season and has to sale truck loads of hand cut firewood until the spring to regain his eligibility.

Thanks much. I suppose he's eligible to join the team then. I'm a little shakey on the specifics of those second term NCAA rules.

My understanding, is he can practice as soon as fall semester is over. Which is December 18th I believe.

And can play when spring semester starts. Probably 2nd week of January.
