Had lunch with my dad and his boss today who is a member of the Athletic Board. He told us not only does he think Calipari stays the remainder of his contract, but he also thinks he takes an extension through 2025. A ton hinges on this year. Cal really thinks he is winning #9 this year with these guards. If he gets #9 this year, he would take that extension in a heartbeat. Why? Because it becomes very feasible he can catch UCLA and John Wooden. That would put him at 66 years old (Coach K is 68 now). He would need 2 more in 10 years after winning (possibly) 2 in 7. He told me and my dad that Cal would trade catching UCLA hands down over any amount of success he could see in the NBA.
