Good for you, Cal. I'm more than happy with the Final Fours, the championship, the record against our chief rivals (7-1 against U of L and 4-2 against UNC), the number of players in the NBA, and most importantly the quality of the kids you are now bringing in to represent the university. I can take heartbreaking losses because I know that the best programs in every sport put themselves in that position more than anyone else.
I agree about him letting KAT show his shooting touch, but he became pretty unstoppable in the paint. Pretty much an automatic two when we threw it down to him.
UK had enough options on the floor at any given time to knock down plenty of threes so I get the point of having Towns stay around the post... but it still bugs the shit out of me to take away the strength of a guy like that when he's capable to spreading the floor as well as or better than a guy like Kaminsky and Cal just didn't let him do it. What happened to "being the best version of yourselves"? Well hell, one of Towns biggest strengths coming out of high school was his perimeter shooting ability.
It's akin to never letting John Wall drive to the basket or fast break and only take jumpers to improve his jump shot or something stupid like that.
If Towns had hit his threes during the games, he would have had more opportunities. Same with Lyles. They kept missing so they only tried one and that was it.
