Calipari pointing Briscoe in new direction **Warning Tipton Article**

Preach,
Not telling you what to do but it is an unwritten understanding on this site that you let people know it is a Tipton article. I never would have clicked it though this one is not bad. I still will NOT knowingly give him hits.

This isn't the first time he's linked Tipton without a warning, and he's been told before. Must work for the Herald Liar.

Ok because I am just a small town preacher. Just what is the problem with this man that you all treat him like he has the plague ? They are just sport writers to me, all have different opinions and thoughts .

Preach,
His thoughts put in writing are not good and yes I am judging him over a period of years. He has some unknown reason for bashing UK and it's coach any time he can. While he is free to do what he wishes and I guess his employer okay's his actions I too have rights to not like his articles as many on this site seem to be in agreement. What we ask is that you at least give us a chance to not like him.

In the news business clicks on articles are likes for the writer. We had no choice in this instance. I am sure you can understand that. Many, many articles of Tipton's UK hate have been on display.

Just give us a choice is all we are asking in this instance.....especially in this instance...Be Good

Are you telling me that you don't know the history of Tipton's jackassery? You posted another link today and added "sorry it's a slideshow". How about adding "it's a Tipton article"? Unless you are deliberately trying to drive hits for him.

If you watch the videos from KT (I think) on this subject, you can hear Tipton asking loaded questions to Briscoe about Cal's demands and perhaps it taking away he creativity. Tipton is absolutely worthless.

That is like saying they're all just preachers to me, all have different opinions and thoughts...I guess that would be alright with you, huh? Just put one hand on the TV, the other on your wallet and all your problems are over. Truth doesn't matter to those of that ilk. That is about as good an analogy as I can think of at the moment when it comes to that piece of human refuse that tries to pass himself off as an unbiased legit sports writer. He mixes in just enough of the truth to separate himself from a tabloid columnist but he's not beyond fiction and innuendos; especially if it reflects poorly on UK.

Loved Briscoe's quotes in that article.

They were great. It was a good article but Tipton cannot get even one like if at all possible as he writes 100 bad articles to one good one.

Not a cousin, but Jerry attends the same Satanic church as me.

He's an imperial high priest.

Thanks for not taking offense as none was intended. You do have that flare for the dramatic. Never dull in your church if nothing else. Be Good

Anybody else think preacher_tom could be Tipton?
It crossed my mind. Don't know how you can be oblivious to Tipton's nonsense when there's a thread right here on the first page (that the op posted in) detailing Jerry's antics from yesterday and most his history. Plus the OP still hasn't been edited.

Pete: I've always wondered, what's the devil look like?

Ulysses Everett McGill: Well, there are all manner of lesser imps and demons, Pete, but the great Satan hisself is red and scaly with a bifurcated tail, and he carries a hay fork.

Tommy Johnson: Oh, no. No, sir. He's white, as white as you folks, with empty eyes, glasses and a big hollow voice. He likes to travel around with a typewriter and a tape recorder. That's right.

Against my better judgment, I clicked the link. It's actually a decent article. He didn't even take his typical shots at Calipari or UK. Maybe if we give hits on an article like this, we can train him to write good stuff. Haha! :D

Preacher Tom, in all the tirade, I don't know if anyone gave you the reason for needing the warning other than Tipton is not well liked.

The reason they want the warning is that they don't want any link to a Tipton article to increment the counters for site hits. Often these are used to generate various statistics which suggest popularity or even translate to advertising cash flow, etc. A heads up can alert those so inclined to avoid clicking on the link.

I personally like the links you provide. I don't read Tipton because I don't find his writing style pleasing, I rarely learn anything from him and I do note a leaning toward negative reporting regarding UK basketball.

If you are referring to to me about hits? I have no venture in that mans web page. All preachers are not well liked, I serve God and preach the Gospel of Jesus to the best of my ability. I will do my best not to link Tiptons writings , I like to read fresh articles which is the reason I post them...
Ok Preacher, perhaps we've been a bit harsh. You sound like a preacher I'd like to hear. Where might one go to listen to one of your sermons?

OP take note...from now on always post Tipton article....NO LINK:

When freshman Isaiah Briscoe wants to shake and bake, Kentucky Coach John Calipari uses non-verbal signals to ask him to cease and desist.

Calipari will stop practice and shimmy his shoulders to indicate Briscoe's flourishes are unnecessary.

"Probably once a practice," Briscoe said of the frequency of this non-verbal instruction. "I'll forget where I'm at and do a couple moves. And he'll stop and he'll do the little (shakes his shoulders). And I'll know what he's talking about."

Then, in case Briscoe doesn't understand, Calipari will typically add, "We're not doing this here, Isaiah," the player said Wednesday.

Calipari used directions of a compass to explain to the media what he wanted from Briscoe and all UK players.

"I'm making him play North-South and get in the lane," the UK coach said.

Briscoe explained.

"Playing in straight lines," he said. "When I came here, I was playing North-South-East-West. Playing with the ball. I had to get all the bad habits out of my game."

When asked if he believed the North-South-East-West would not work at the college level or Calipari simply did not find such moves appealing, Briscoe said, "I'm not going to say it won't work. But he feels I'm a better basketball player playing North-South."

After a pause, Briscoe added, "With his résumé, he knows exactly what he's taking about. So I better listen."

During UK's Pro Day workout Sunday, ESPNU broadcaster Seth Greenberg described Briscoe's playing style as a "city game." This was a mystery to Briscoe, who is from Union, N.J.

"I don't really know what that means, honestly," he said. "That's the first time I ever heard that."

Briscoe nodded in agreement when it was suggested this meant a more creative style based on improvisation. But he said freedom has its limits.

"He coaches me," he said of Calipari, "and that's one thing I've been missing in my game. Being coached."

Poythress 75 percent

Alex Poythress' recovery from the anterior cruciate ligament he tore in mid-December is not complete.

"He's about 75 percent," Calipari said. "We need him to be something like he's got to be a beast."

Part of the remaining 25 percent is getting over the mental hurdle of knowing the knee is sound, Calipari said.

"It's that he's confident that 'I can come down hard and I'm going to be fine,'" the UK coach said. "But he's big for us."

Poythress reminded reporters that patience is required in returning from a torn ACL.

"Taking it day by day," he said. "It's a process. ACLs don't heal overnight."

'Very frustrated'

Dominique Hawkins acknowledged the frustration that came with breaking a bone in his right hand during a practice this preseason.

"Very frustrated," he said, "because Coach (Calipari) was bragging about how good I was playing and stuff.

"I feel like in my three years, this has been my best year in practice and I've been more confident."

Hawkins, a junior from Richmond and a Kentucky Mr. Basketball, described the injury. He was defending against a fast-breaking Briscoe in transition. As he reached to swipe the ball away, his hand got caught in Briscoe's jersey "as he did a Euro step," Hawkins said. "It just happened.

"I didn't even know I broke it. I thought I just sprained a finger."

The surgical repair involved three pins. Hawkins said he was unsure when he could return. But he downplayed the significance of the time he will be sidelined.

"I'll be fine," he said. "I'm watching practice. (Calipari) put in all these plays I already ran last year."

Calipari spoke of the disappointment in seeing Hawkins and teammate Derek Willis sidelined with injuries. Both enter their third year seeking a more prominent role.

"Neither one of them really had a chance to play until now," Calipari said. "The other players were just better than them. They were good, too. The other guys were way better."

When asked if the same applied to this season's "other players," Calipari used his hands to explain why not.

"If they're better, it's not like this," he said separating his hands by about 2 feet. "It's like this (about a 6-inch separation)."

Let's just say he is the reason I cancelled my subscription to the Herald Leader. I let the Herald know that Tipton was the reason. They continue to call wanting me to renew and I continue to let them know that as long as Jerry Tipton is employed at that paper I will not renew my subscription. He never misses an opportunity to bash Cal and the basketball team. He is always looking for dirt in any way possible. Nothing would please him more than to see Cal fired and the basketball team put on probation. If you haven't recognized this then you have not been reading his articles over the last few years. Once in a while he might write a positive article to try and disguise his true intentions. To live in a college town that has the University of Kentucky he is the most negative sports writer I have ever seen.

We appreciate the links you share for us, preacherfan. If someone comes across any Lexington Herald Leader articles written by Jerry Tipton, we love when they either just copy/paste the entire article in the thread so nobody clicks on the link, or put a warning in the thread title and body.

This article was okay, surprisingly.

Sounds like he was hoping to get a rise out of Briscoe and Briscoe wouldn't bite. Tipton always has bad intentions.

Preacher Tom, are you seriously wanting us to think that you don't know? Shame on you...

Guys, it could be worse with this preacher Tom dude. He likes to start more threads than most of us breath, but at least he's not starting threads shoving religion down our throats. Next time, I would advise you to just let people know when it's a piece from Tipton. If not, you will get plenty of bashing and Can't say it wouldn't be well deserved.
