Think if he had been here all summer he would be getting some clock, Cal says he isnt in shape. kinda hard to get in game shape during the season.
Doesn't really make any sense to. He still has 3 years after this year. He'll either be an NBA player after 2 years with Cal or Cal will probably want him to move on for the scholarship.
yep. Most of his recruits would look at him like he had 3 foreheads if he uttered the word "redshirt". "Why does it matter coach? I ain't gonna be here in year 5 anyway...."Cal has no reason to redshirt anyone...unless an injury occurs. His recruiting is too good to tie up scholarships.
Yea he needs to play Skal because of his draft status. That is bull... Play Tai and if he performs good, keep Skal on the freaking pine. It is like he is scared this will happen.“I can’t just take those minutes and give them to Tai and get him going,” said Calipari. “You could do that if Skal was really playing well, if he didn’t need the minutes but he needs them.” Coach Cal
Look, I love Cal, but this makes no sense whatsoever. At some point, (and soon) we have to start hedging our bets, and start prepping someone else in order to make a run in march. And right now, I have seen nothing that indicates to me that Skal is going to turn a corner anytime soon, if at all. I HOPE I'M WRONG about that. But I see no reason, why we can't get Tai out there and see what the kid is capable of. Maybe just maybe he will surprise us, and if that happens the ceiling for this team will be dramatically higher. One thing is for certain, we aren't going to go far with a 6'8 PoY having to defend 6'10 and up Centers.
Id say Tai plays when Alex and Marcus both get in foul trouble. He wont play till that happens.
And being a Kiwi it would probably please him to put an Aussie in the 3rd row.I would use Wynyard in a hockey goon role.
Would have loved to have watched him put Ben Simmons in the 3rd row.
Well if he doesn't play that will be a red shirt, planned or not. He was going to get 30 seconds in the Ole Miss game but time ran out. I guess my point is, it's not clear he plans to play him either.
