Caleb Swanigan

We did, but i think it fell apart.

Not sure what happened. His recruitment was kind of crazy.

Swanigan has had 5 double-doubles. Impressive. Glad he didn't stick with Michigan State.

Well the guy that adopted him played at Purdue apparently. So maybe he was going to go there no matter what.
I hadn't heard that story. Pretty amazing. The guy who adopted him is a sports agent, but adopted Swanigan when he was a homeless 6'2 360 lb 8th grader.

i have forgotten, did we actively recruit him. A really nice looking player. Reminds me a little of Terrance Jones

I think he's better than TJ. Other than Ben Simmons, Swanigan is the best freshman I've seen.

Shows you never know with recruits until they face real competition. Season began with Skal higher rated, but Swanigan clearly appears the far better player after the real thing has begun.

Well he originally committed to Michigan State, so I don't think he was always a Purdue lock.

But, yeah, the Swanigan story kinda sounds like "Blind Side II", doesn't it? Fat homeless kid adopted by former athlete, then develops into star athlete at adopted daddy's alma mater.

I didnt expect him to be this good, looked like hell in the ASG game nike hoop summit, slow and under the rim, definitely in better shape.

Yeah that goes to show you can't always put much stock in the McDonalds game and NHS. He looked very average at best against the more athletic bigs that was in them. He reminds me of a Kendrick Persons.

That was a great movie. What I would do to Sandra.

Swanigan was thought as a get by many here once he decomm'd from MSU. I don't think many considered Purdue to be realistic.

Cal doesn't get everyone, and you can't expect him just to get the best ones.

Still liked the efforts of Jaylen Brown last night also; he knows how to compete and get to the line.

Anybody think we would be better with Zimmerman? I think we're still in the same state with or without him as I didn't consider him a big enough contributor.

Ivan Raab is one of the best I have seen. Dude AVERAGES almost a double double a game.

Swanigan's closer to averaging a double double than Rabb. He's pulling 9.2 boards per game, and that's despite the fact that he's playing the four spot where he's out on the perimeter far more often.

In fact, that's what really surprised me about the kid in the games I've seen, he's a really good passer and has some serious perimeter skills in addition to the bulky banging. Hell, he even shoots three pointers better than every player on our team (except maybe Murray).

The lesson, as always: judging players based on All Star games is fool's gold. You can only really tell what a player is based on how they do in real games against real defenses. Skal looked better in no defense all star games, Swanigan looks better in real games.

Rabb is averaging 12 points 9 rebounds a game

Well, to be exact, Rabb is averaging 8.8 rebounds per game, whereas Swanigan is averaging 9.2. The latter would be more, right? In addition, Swanigan has proven himself to be a far better passer (2.5 APG vs. 0.9), a far better ballhandler, a better shooter (an impressive 35 percent 3 shooter vs. zero threes even attempted), and his team is having the better season.

Not entirely sure what your point is, but if you're trying to compare Swanigan to Rabb, I'll just say both guys have been impressive (certainly more so than our freshman big man), but Swanigan has plainly been the better all around player.

swaingan has a mans body but hard to say he has that much more game or potential than Skal.

"Hey guys I'm going to Mississippi State."
"Wow that's impressive. I'm going to UNLV."
"HA... that's nothing. WE'RE BOTH going to California."

"Coach Howland said if I came, we could win a title there!"

Were any of the crack pipes ever found?

Swanigan has a good basketball IQ to go along with knowing how to use his body. As someone else stated, i was impressed with his entire skill set but passing and screening caught my eye. Very rarely do freshmen do the intangibles so well. Kid is a game changer and Purdue has a promising season ahead.

Swanigan is absolutely a stud. He's Jared Sullinger 2.0, only he seems bigger(whether he actually is or not) and he's definitely more skilled.

He would start on every single team in the nation.
