Calipari did not mention any names, only telling reporters those “guys” are giving up too many points defensively. He said it may look like they are doing well when they make a basket, but they are allowing way too many on the other end.

Seems to me that he is speaking directly to Willis. I saw him get abused repeatedly for easy buckets and make bonehead plays. Bash away Willis lovers, but he just ain't that good.

Willis and Mulder were abused on the perimeter, especially after Marcus fouled out. We need Dom back because he has the ability to shut the opponents best driver or shooter down. He was even making shots which makes him extremely valuable to our team.

He is trying to motivate Willis, Mulder and Mathews. Cal NEEDS those 3 to step up!! Why wouldn't you work hard to please the coach and in turn help your team and yourself?

My god, I stay out of the Willis arguments and I have no clue if Cal was talking about Willis, but basketball is more than offense. I like Willis, I like seeing him do well, but for the love of God people. Cal basically said he gives up more than he's worth. It's not that hard to figure out.

We had defensive breakdowns from a lot of players. We had Miss St. on the ropes and should've put them away.. Coach has to figure out a way to use Willis. He's too good of a catch and shoot player not to use. No one else has came off the bench and shot that well on a game to game basis. No one that's coming off the bench can D up.. Now when Hawkins is back we'll see how effective he can be. He's only had one good offensive game in his career.

No they don't, but Willis also is not the answer to those problems like some try to make him out to be. Willis' role on this team isn't to make a couple three pointers. His role on this team is crystal clear, and it's something that this team really needs. I'm also sure Willis is very aware of what is needed from him. Unfortunately, he can't do those things (at this point in time), or he refuses to focus and work hard on getting better at them.

Willis does have bad luck. The guy who hits those shots... Those were his first points of the game. BUT I am sure howland told the guy to go at Willis. Willis should of denied him the ball. Because once he catches it he will get beat. Willis is quick but when it comes to moving his feet playing defense, he is SLOW.

Bottom line, Skal and Matthews have regressed as the season has went on. Not a sign of great coaching what so ever. Willis is an Offensive player who has limits on defense, but he can score and shoot FT's, which is needed certainly needed down the stretch.
All these threads raving about Briscoe, who played well tonight, he is too hot headed, and is an embarassment at the FT line. If Ulis were to go down, this team would be a one and done NIT team.

On 3 occasions Ulis was driven on and scored on plus he had 4 bad turnovers and a game changing stupid technical... No one would ever dare say a word about the golden boy...how about Murray on D...its ever bit as bad as Willis but again untouchable. Mulder gave up 2 straight lay ups. Defend first and foremost. His man, rotations on his help defense, etc... He also needs to rebound. He's 6'9" for crying out loud and Ulis is a better rebounder than he is. That is unacceptable, regardless of if he makes a couple of threes.

This team scores enough points to win without his couple of three pointers. If he didn't give up 12 points to his man, another six because he was lost on his rotations, and 5 offensive rebounds, then his couple three pointers would actually contribute something, and be a bonus.

You guys can complain all you want, but until he does those things, the things asked of him by the coaching staff, the things needed from him to make this team better, then making a couple of three pointers will not earn him more playing time.
