Cal on radio in a few..

Cal: AP practiced some today....Willis doubtful he'll play

--WIllis and Dom help stretch the court

--Told Mulder we may need you next....next man up

--Bama playing very well

--Didn't rebound last game...gave up 15 offensive rebounds...how were we up?

--Talking about AD and his 59 points...probably should've had AD shoot more at UK (laughing)

--Took 4th most shots on team while at UK and it didn't hurt him....same with Karl....they both wanted to WIN

--Camby came in locker room and played in league almost 20 years

Caller from Mammoth Cave....Cals asks the population...joking about the caves

---great job Sat. nite regardless of the loss

--Front court thin...will Tai see any PT? Cal: probably not....will use Matthews right now instead

--A&M game situation 'embarrassing' (referring to the refs)

--Have to execute at 80% instead of the 50ish% we are at now

--Prepare to play great and with great energy

--We had guys fighting like heck

--They executed out of timeouts

--One or 2 stops from winning the game

--Watched the tape today and MUST get our execution level up on both offense and defense....too many breakdowns

--Anymore gamedays? Cal glad there are no more

not sure if its my internet but video stream is unwatchable for me... constant repeats and buffering

Caller: 2010, 11, 14 teams difference?

Cal: '13 team so young

--This team completely different

--Have to rely on Murray and TU for abundance of the scoring which is different from years past

--If somebody not fighting, they're coming out

--Izak doing OK....felt terrible for him

--Monmouth bench should get techs every game for celebrating

--If ref chooses to throw me out he can

--My shirt came out...the Italian in me came out

Caller: Glad to see team rally around Izak and how they stood up for Cal when he got tossed

--Cal: These kids were so for Izak....youngest player in college basketball

--He just got excited...Really? Really?

--Told Izak to just get by it....cannot imagine the ovation he's gonna get when he goes in the game next

--Trying to improve your seed but have a tough last part of schedule...UT beat LSU without punter

Robic up next...Cal has to leave

Robic: Bama gotten a lot better

--Impressed with their pg

Caller: Will we play any zone the rest of the season?

Robic: It helped us at SC....something good to have in your back pocket

--Stayed away from the junk defenses

Twitter question: Does team hang out together like last year's team?

--This team is a tight group

--Have formed a brotherhood

Caller: Wife's a UK fan and I was an IU fan but have now become a UK fan

Robic: You married a smart woman....welcome to the blue side

Caller: Would Briscoe's mouthpiece help his FT shooting?

Robic: Coaches have worked on his FT technique....easier to make in practice than a hostile arena

--Have to get offensive rebounds on misses

--Our guys would rather play games than practice anyway..referring to the quick turnaround

--We played well on both sides of the ball in a hostile environment

--Guys like playing with Izak....fought great in the game

--Sounds like AP could play

Caller: This team resembles the 2011 FF team

Robic: Great point.....has taken time for these guys to understand how they should play

---Is now a high % shooting team....not taking hero shots anymore

--They understand scouting reports now, etc..

Caller: Watched AD get the 59/20...tell Cal thank you for bringing in these studs....we get to watch NBA now when we couldn't before....You led the nation in technicals when you were a HC

Robic: I was a fool on the sidelines

--We always check on what our guys did the nite before

--AD will be one of the greatest ever

Twitter: What is toughest arena to play at in SEC?

Robic: A&M, Ark, Vandy's funky configuration

--Keep Bama's big guy off the boards

That's it for tonite

I'd love to see Mulder get a few minutes going forward. He's shown he can rebound a little, and without Willis stretching the D, another shooter could be valuable the next couple games.

Mathews' head is a mess right now. Got the strong impression early on that Cal really wanted him to play a prominent role, was practically begging him to grab a spot. He looked better in December .....

As long as rebounds and plays D he will help.

If he can score and get fouled on some drives to the basket so much the better.

No jump shots though. PLEASE.
He does not help though. He can NOT score at all. He is not a shut down defender. With Willis being out we need scoring anyways. Hawkins or Mulder should get the minutes.

I believe when we did have Mulder in there before and this is before Willis became a starter he was playing good defense and getting 6 or 7 rebounds and Mulder can hit the 3 and good shooter. I have nothing against Matthews but I feel when Coach Cal inserted Mulder in Line-up with more minutes he was more of a help in the Rebounding, Defense, Shooting, and 3-point shooter, and FT shooter. I believe Dom and Mulder are better options when needed in the game. Dom has become a better shooter this year and has worked on his 3-point shot, better defender, another that gets rebounds for a guard. Both he and Mulder for being guards are both great on the boards, defense and Mulder is an excellent shooter and 3-point shooter.

Mulder is 4 for 17 from the field, 2 for 10 from the 3. You use the term excellent very loosely.

Small sample size. For all intents and purposes, Mulder is known to be a good shooter. You know that.

I saw stats on Briscoe in high school that showed he was a good free throw shooter, do you want to know my opinion of his ft shooting now? Potential means Mulder hasn't done anything yet to be called a good shooter. The stats don't lie.

Mulder in High School was a 46% 3 point Shooter and that is why Coach Cal went after him was his shooting. Briscoe was a 48% shooter and I think he was a 36-38% 3-point shooter and 71% from the FT Line. I was just saying that if we a need a 3 point shot Mulder is known as a good shooter. Even Hawkins as Coach Cal mentioned in early season said he had improved most on his shooting and 3-point shooting. Hawkins in the UL game was 3/4 from 3 with 13 points and I know he is only 6-20 from 3 for 30% but his Injuries this year has really hurt Hawkins numbers and Playing time. Just because Mulder is 2-10 from 3 doesn't mean that he isn't a good 3-point shooter. Mulder in JUCO at Vincennes avg. 16ppg and 6rpg and shot 50% fg and 46% from 3-point(88 for 190),and 80%(80 for 100)at the FT line. That is why Coach Cal went after him was his shooting and 3 point shooting.
