No coach in the country has outperformed Calipari. But Donovan is an elite coach and competitor. Keep in mind that Donovan has coached at Kentucky, and almost certainly turned down our head coaching position at least once. The head to head coaching matchup with Calipari is being overblown, and I think Donovan's remarks on the matter may have been taken a little bit out of context. Unlike his disgusting mentor in Louisville, Donovan had always been a gracious man. He and Calipari have always been complimentary toward each other. As recently as a year ago, Donovan was holding his own in the competition. Donovan had a fantastic run at Florida, including 2 national championships and the recent FF appearance. His ambition to coach in the NBA has been clear since he lunged at the Orlando Magic job a couple of years ago. The OKC job is a good opportunity for him to follow his ambitions. I'll say this. He sure picked a good time to leave. Next year will not be pretty in the O'Connor Center.
