I feel like ULL and UL refusing to identify their starter before the first game is bush league. It is the act of an extreme underdog from a lesser league that does not believe it can just line up and win.

Would it be okay if Petrino named a starter and lied, starting the other when the game arrived?

Why is it okay for a coach to say he has a starter, does not think it serves him to announce it? Why should any coach announce a depth chart?

Just seems bush league to me.

Kentucky did the exact same thing two years ago against WKU in Nashville IIRC. I didn't really have a problem with it then, and I don't really have a problem with it now.

Urban Meyer hasn't named a starting QB yet either. We may not like it but it is not that uncommon unfortunately. And plenty of starters are not named for other positions for numerous teams as well.

I think it's smart. Why tip off to your opponent who you need to prepare for. It's called gamesmanship.

These two haven't named a starter either.

Bush league. Shame on us.

So, would it be okay to name a QB, but plan to start someone else? That would be even more confusing to your opponent, as they would conceivably spend most of the time preparing for the wrong guy.

Disagree... Have no problem with it and it's not illegal and possibly gives them an advantage and if you know by reading this board I HATE OTIS:thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

Have no problem with that either... anything to take a competitive advantage. A game of chess and puts the onus on the opposing coach.

I never said being bush league was illegal.
Why is it bush league to you...I think any coach worth their salt prepares for everything to try to have all their bases coverd... Look what happened to us last year when we didn't do well with the change of qbs against Otis...

Stoops is not worth his salt?

Just getting a reading. Thanks.

Everything about Petrino is usually bush league. However, I don't think this is an issue. If anything they have issues at QB and he knows it. Gardner was born on the disabled list and Bonnafon is smaller version of Morgan Newton.

Add Jim Harbaugh to that list, too. So Petrino, Saban, Meyer, & Harbaugh....yep, bush league coaches all right.

Get used to it, becoming the norm.

It only works for one game...so it becoming the norm may happen wk 1, and then never again.

I don't think its bush league - but Petrino looks like a clown with having 3 "ors" and 4 possible starters. Doesn't say much for his confidence.

Jackson is still in the mix and, if does not start, might very well get situational snaps. If he does, the starter might be Garder or Bolin.

You guys criticize anything and everything the man does. I've never seen someone so polarizing as he is to posters here. He's passed up Pitino in that regard, and I would've never predicted that.

I said that when UK did this before the UK game it was bush league. People can disagree, but people defending Petrino as if he is some victim is just sad.

You do realize pitino used to coach here, right???? Lol

Morgan Newton?! Nice try. Guy fumbled on his on feet.

I like the old Billy Jack approach. We are going to start Patty Ice, who is going to carve you up by throwing the ball all over the field, and there is not one thing you can do about it.

He listed 4 guys as possible starters when he knows who is going to start. I think throwing 2 possible starters out there would've been sufficient, don't you?

He is a clown - his actions at every stop have proven that much. He has proven he can coach offense as well.

no offense meant op, but I think it seems ignorant and bush league for message board posters to qustion and accuse actual real life college coaches( including several championship coaches) bush league for using gamesmanship to try to get every advantage possible. These guys are competitors. They compete. They know what they are doing and they do it well. I'll trust their opinion on the matter over yours.

LOL!

You know what's bush league? I bet Auburn's got their first 15 plays scripted, but they haven't announced what plays they're gonna run even though they already know. Must not believe they can line up and win against Louisville.
