Buford put in another solid performance today...vs a terrific Dline. Why in hell Yenser benched him for Flax, Horsey adn Wohlbuagh was a terrible player evaluation. Hell...he played well in Miss St game and then he goes right back to bench for a few games for no reason. We missed a golden opportunity to keep Horsey at LG and let BUford play LT. Could have at least solidified that side of line.

That is true. Buford has outplayed the guys starting at both right and left tackle throughout the season. It was quite apparent in the Mississippi State game you mentioned. Most people here saw it and recognized it. But apparently our offensive coaches didn't. That is concerning.

You, or anyone else has no idea how these guys do in practice. These coaches see these guys every day, watch all the film, evaluate. You don't know who deserves the playing time other than your amateur eye.

One guy practices well. Another plays well during actual games. It doesn't take a genius to figure out who you roll with in that scenario. Josh Carrier might have got 35 minutes a game here if his playing time was based on how he practiced. Thankfully it wasn't.

In the opportunity earlier in the year, he didn't perform well enough to take a spot. Last few weeks the entire OL looks totally different. Not sure if it's scheme, cohesion, simplification or what.

Glad to see that unit pick up momentum. To be our best, we need someone else to be good enough to ultimately move Buford to RT.

When horsey returns, Jager should sit.

Who cares what they do in practice if they can’t perform in the game. Only Yesner keeps trotting the same guys out week after week expecting a different performance. He needs to go!

We heard lots of praise for Buford going back to the Spring. When we didn't hear much about him in the early Fall I just assumed maybe he was dinged. Hopefully he finishes the season as the #1 LT.

Might Horsey be done? Dare I say it, I fear maybe he's had a flare up of his heart problem. Stoops was awfully careful about NOT saying much which he does anyway but thought he danced around with his comments. Hope Horsey's OK.

The most over stated practice comment comes out once again. Allen Iverson could have have never gotten off the bench for some of you boys. We talking about practice, come on man!!!!

The 4 yr olds at my wife’s illegal preschool think Yenser is a clown of an OL coach

3 of them threatened to give me a beat down if I tried to defend him back in late Sept

The guys who preform on game day are the one who should play. There are players who play better then they practice, if that's the case the coaches should identify that and play the best players!

Obviously, the Wilson decision did not start with Yenser. He has played under three OL coaches and has been second string his whole career.
He's still been better than Burton has been this year throughout his career. Burton will probably be a good player before he leaves but he wasn't ready this year.

Please...enough of this nonsense. This miindset you'd have to just be thankful Joker Phillips is still the coach as the fans have no clue if the football team can do any better.

1. Buford was fine in the spring game....then magically much of the Oline shuffles to opening game which has been crap Oline all year.
2. Wohlbaugh was so pitiful at tackle.....he was game 1 starter. Buford has played circles around him and never looked this bad. There is nothing a competent coach could have seen to play Wohlbaugh over Buford at the exact same position.
3. All that being said....Buford played for an injured Flax in Miss St game....and he did fine. So why is Buford back on bench for Tennessee, Mizzou and Vandy games....but then plays UGA game for Horsey and again he did fine....and against the best edge rushers in SEC.

Yenser is a complete joke. He was the Oline coach at Kansas when they were like 3-33. Then he catches on as assistant Oline coach in NFL...then we bump him to Oline coach in college again just because he was with the 49ers. It is obvious Buford - LT, Horsey LG, Cox C, Manning RG and Flax RT was the optimal lineup With Burton, John Young, Q Wilson and Goodwin rotating as subs. Yenser is ridiculous...and Stoops knows it and he'll be the first fired after UL game.

Watch the Oline be decent next year and we wasted a good skilled positions at UK with Yenser crapping up the Oline.

Agree that Buford had another pretty good performance, this time against one of the top front sevens in the country. There isn't much point in guessing why Buford is still a backup. In the larger picture, the takeaway is that Coach Yenser isn't getting the job done and needs to be replaced.

I don't give up on coaches easily.

I have addressed this final point before, but it bears repeating. There is a narrative circulating that we don't have talent anymore on our OL. That is patently false. Kiyaunta Goodwin was a borderline 5 star. Flax, Young, Burton, and Bingham were 4 stars. Buford was a high 3 star with an excellent Power 5 offer sheet. Stars aren't everything, but Cox was a midseason AA in 2021. Granted, some of these players are young, and some have changed positions. But those are coaching and developmental issues. Even if Yenser was the world's best OL coach, the exposure of these players to a new OL coach every year would still be an issue. But the observable evidence says that Yenser has not responded very effectively to problems this year. As I have suggested before, you really have to wonder what Goodwin is thinking. That subject actually scares me a bit.

Agree 100%....Yenser is proving to be a head scratcher. Cox and Horsey were fine Oline and this year is by far their worst. I don't think it's wise to give up on all these Oline players. I'm of the mindset a new coach can quickly turn this squad around in quick order. I still believe in a future Oline of

LT - Goodwin/Flax
LG - Horsey if he comes back for a year/John Young
C - Cox
RG - Burton/Bingham
RT - Buford/Flax

Guys like Nik Hall, Wohlbaugh, Rodriquez might develop down the road. I'd argue we do need to target a top tier Oline if one is an option (but Oline are hard to get in portal IMO)...but we've got a good nucleus. No need to give up on this unit.

Agree 100%. My question is why doesn't stoops see this earlier, and call Yenser out privately on it. If Yenser doesn't correct it he should have been fired on the spot. We might've had a different outcome.
I just hope this doesn't send WR into the portal! So if we lose 2-3 WR and suck next year, it's on Stoops head!
I've been patient with stoops, but this has been a pattern. Blowing a season and not making changes that could impact the seasons outcome!

Most fans don’t know if Yenser is a good or bad coach. No clue. Many fans, however, have an opinion. I’ll let Stoops decide, because the beloved Schlarman would have been fired early in his UK coaching career had fan opinion been correct.

Depth chart has horsey back at lt. Maybe it's too late to move horsey back this season? I'm guessing it's just more of the same intent to play Jager hell or high water.

OL played really well last week although I saw at least one Jager whiff. This came off a good game vs vandy. Hopefully we're finally on track

Practice ...we talking bout practice. Buford has earned on the field in game situations.

Stoops said that Buford is strong and athletic. Then he seemed to insinuate that he needs to learn to be in the right position to block all the time is the way I took his wording. Just paraphrasing but said there are a lot of plays to learn and not easy to learn and get better except for experience. So bottom line Buford has what it takes physically and he works at it but just needs the reps to get better and better.

Yeah because no coach ever in the history of time has been wrong about a player. lol

They have played better recently but UGA helped that a little by not bringing as much pressure, played it pretty straight much of the game. This week will be a true test of how afr they've come as UL will bring max pressure and thats THE thing they have yet to solve.

Until just recently, Georgia's defense was last in the conference in sacks so maybe that fact at least partially explains our OL's better than expected performance (at least on pass pro).

As to Buford, it seems that he's talented enough to play a lot, if not start, and has played solidly when inserted into the lineup. Looking forward, is he physically more of a G or OT? Seems, size and length-wise, he looks more like a G but he's been playing OT this year. Is OT his final position or do you think they'll move him inside next year? I strongly believe he'll be a starter at some position next year. Would love to see Hall, Young, Goodwin, Wohlabaugh, Rodriguez, Bingham, et al, REALLY improve over the offseason and we'd once again see a strong BBW. We may need a return to a dominant OL with huge question marks at Q and RB next year.

The same UGA front murdered UT with no blitzing. They didn't take it easy on us, it's just how they play.

That said, our QB has major issues handling the blitz. We'll see how we handle it this week because we know they'll be coming every snap

True re GA but many here enjoy minimizing UK's efforts on about everything.

Thank you....I mean why are we now minimizing UGA D? They sort of handed it to Hendon Hooker/UT two weeks ago did they not? #88 is going to be the first DL drafted...he's a killer. Their edge rusher is a good player as well. I shake my head at people that just look for any shot to minimize a decent showing by UK.

Levis was much better at getting rid of the ball faster. I loved that instead of taking sacks, we threw some 50/50 balls and let Barion/Dane get some shots.
