Briscoe

You need a jump shot like an old barn needs paint. But you play with energy. Please stop driving the baseline when there is only 6 inches of clearance. Nothing is going to come from that. Not even a foul. Only a turnover. Also, when you are assigned to guard a player with proven shooting skills, do whatever is necessary to prevent the player from getting the ball. This will help.

Side notes: (1) Alford had his team ready for this game and his son has his daddy's savvy for the game. Really good player tonight. (2) Hope Marcus Lee is OK. (3) Wish Alex had got knock in the head instead of Marcus, he could probably both take it and benefit from the wake-up (being cynical). (3) Maybe getting dunked on by that annoying bruin (I know that doesn't narrow it down) will wake him up some. (4) We need more interior offense. (5) We lost to a much better prepared team.

Dude has heart and plays all out. He frustrates me but never gives up on a play. Never known for defense but he is becoming a bulldog defender

Thanks for fighting , you were about the only player that appeared to refuse to give in . Yea you fouled too much , still I felt you deserved your own thread so as to not get bundled into the half hearted effort by the rest .[/QU

Big Amen, he plays hard. Blue collar Jersey boy, need more like him !

Think you should include Willis in the fighting category. But I agree, the rest not much effort displayed.

I agree, and will go further. To date I'm more impressed with Briscoe than Murray despite his shooting pretty well from 3 tonight. Barely better from 2 though. Just overall one of the poorer performances I seen from the staff and team in Cal's tenure at UK. We had no business being taken to the woodshed by this UCLA team. I suspect this team will lose a number of games on the road in the SEC unless they start to get things turned around quickly. And right now after this loss I'm not exactly looking forward to playing KU on their home floor.

He played great! he played tough. He and Ulis needs to beat up Humphries and Skal.

BTW< Humphries played Rugby? yeah...okay.

I am afraid you may be right.

Briscoe was the only one who showed up all night tonight. Proud of the kid for giving all he had on both ends of the court and I had no problem with the fouls as he was playing harder than anyone out there.

Briscoe is the only one of our freshmen who is aggressive enough for college ball right now. The other guys are still stuck in high school, but they will get better as the year goes on. Briscoe is the only one who's ready at the moment, though.

Briscoe has a refuse to lose attitude . Hopefully, the free throws improve over the season . It hurts right now that when he is fouled it is like a turnover if he doesn't start converting. An early loss is not the worst thing that can happen . UK needed a wake up call as it appears they are going through the motions after the Duke win ( not Briscoe or Ulis).

Have to agree. I thought our 1st L would be at Kansas.

Also, why not use Mulder some to force UCLA get out of the paint on defense? Cal as brilliant as he is doesn't do well with mid-game adjustments. We had no shooters in the the game and did nothing to put some on the floor. Constantly yanking players out of the game for a single mistake which caused our young players to play way too indecisively. He has completely screwed up Skal's confidence. I understand the desire for Skal to occasionally play post up, but Skal will never be a post up player and he will certainly not do that in the NBA. He needs to let him do what he does well on offense which is to face the basket. Skal currently looks like a mid-level player that got outplayed by some stiff with a 2 inch vertical.

I thank Cal , as I much as I love him, needed a wake-up call as well.

I don't remember a guard at uk that gets more lay ups than Briscoe , he was getting lay ups tonight when everybody else was jacking up perimeter shots and making the bruin defense look like an iron curtain . Yea he has flaws but that guy is fearless , tenacious and just does not give up . If everybody gave his effort tonight we might have won . His free throws need work but he is our playmaker period , if we need a game winning bucket then I want Briscoe to shoot a layup .

Willis and Briscoe...only 2 that had fight and played tough and aggressive

Willis, Briscoe, and Ulis fought tonight. Humphries tries, but he's not ready. Briscoe and Ulis bring it every game.

Only issue with Ulis tonight was OBVIOUSLY that EFFING elbow. His patent mid range jumper is ALWAYS bucket.

I think he missed them all today.
