Breakdown of 2018 class

I'm sure the past pages are littered with threads here and there about a handful of individual 2018 prospects, but that's not super useful for a global look at next year's team. Would anyone who's followed the situation care to summarize who we're targeting, our odds with certain prospects, what our most likely class is, how this recruiting class in general stacks up to prior classes, etc.? Would think other posters would find this useful as well. Thanks.

Well, seeing as the Crystal Ball is complete tripe, and the NBA draft decisions for the 2017 class are still a year away, and Coach K has not undergone his annual feeding upon the blood of a thousand infants, I'd wager nobody has an insight worth a damn yet.

Roberts has a list of the seven 2018 recruits with confirmed offers. You can include your own odds.

This class is top heavy. The top 5 are nasty.

Marvin Bagley (pf)
Zion Williamson (sf/pf)
Bol Bol (pf/c)
Cameron Reddish (sf)
Romeo Langford (sg)

Cal is recruiting all 5. I'd say 2 or 3 are pretty likely. Bol & Williamson supposedly really like us. After that, it's kind of a weak class. There are another handful we're looking at. Our point guard will likely be one of Javonte Smart or Immanuael Quickley, both top 10-20. He's also looking at Naz Reid & Moses Brown; 2 solid big guys.

That's all off the top of my head. We'll have a better idea in a month or 2 once the summer AAU circuit is over and we see who Cal really zeroes in on.

I bet RJ Barrett will reclassify and be ahead of a couple of the guys you have listed.

Wishlist
Bagley
Williamson
Bol
Quickley
Smart

I like Naz Reid too, but doubt we can get him if we get the other 2 bigs.
But we are UK after all.

Agreed.

If he does, that's the Super Six.

Right now, I rank them:

1. Bagley
2. Bol
3. Barrett
4. Williamson
5. Langford
6. Reddish

We get at least two, IMHO.

Maybe they'll be inspired by the Warriors and want to all come. Superteam; One can have dreams.

Take a look at all the five stars. > eliminate the ones considering Duke as coach K has probably locked them up > take the remaining best players at each position > chalk a couple of them up to close to home schools > you have our class

All we need to know about the 2018 class:
Whoever gets Bagley is the title favorite

We don't have to get all of them if we bring a decent amount back next year.

Alexander and Green could both be back...add in Langford with 2 out of 3 of Bagley, BolBol, and Williamson and you're talking about a really good team

What a load of BS. His summer team lost every single game it played. If he can't take over a high school game, he isn't going to drag a college team to a championship. I'm not saying he isn't a good player or that we don't want him, but you people need to settle tf down.

I think we get one of Bagley or Bol. The other goes to Zona.

I think Barrett reclassifies and we get one of Barrett, Reddish, and Langford. Duke gets one as well. The other goes elsewhere.

We get Quickley or Smart at PG.

Sign a top 25-30 guy like King, plus a couple of 4-star guys to round out the class.

Hopefully several players return from this season. Diallo, Knox, Richards, and Vanderbilt are likely gone. Most of the rest come back.

Could see a starting five of:

G Green
G Quickley or Smart
G Barrett, Langford, or Reddish
F Washington or Gabriel
F Bagley or Bol

SGA, Baker, King, SKJ, and Wynyard on the bench. I'm good with that.

I've got a feeling this could be our 2018 class.

Khavon Moore 6'8
Marvin Bagley 6'11
Bol Bol 7'3
Romeo Langford 6'5
Ja'Vonte Smart 6'5
Immanuel Quickley 6'3
I know most people thinks that Langford will choose either Duke or UL. But after Calipari coaches him this summer on the USA U19 team. Langford will be a UK Wildcat.... And think how much fun it's going to be to here all the UL fans crying & saying that Calipari cheated.

idk about bol bol. yes he has dominated the competition but i read a report regarding his last event, he is a slow-twich athlete. not very explosive. would often get bullied and stopped by much smaller guys and has not played against many big men. in a way...reminds me of skal. skal had different issues, but for 1 or 2 years in college...i'm not so sure bol delivers what you would expect for a guy ranked so high. which isnt saying he is bad or anything and would be a great pick up...but not sure totally what to make of him.

i think someone like naz reid would fill the role you want a center and produce. maybe not the upside of bol, but i think more likely to give you something you can count on.

Duke and Langford has cooled off. Their focus is Reddish and Barrett.

Look at the schools that are recruiting him.
The addition of Bagley to any of those 6 will make them the Vegas odds-on favorite for the 2018 championship. You can wait until next this time next year to find out I'm right.

Bagley is a generational player, like LeBron or AD. Once this guy gets on an elite college roster whether that is UK, Duke, Arizona, or UCLA, I'm saying that he will be holding the trophy in April 2019.

I also believe that Bagley will play for us and if
by some weird circumstance he ends up in this years' class, we may have a chance at the "U" word.

DON'T YOU DARE!!!!

This part of the summer is historically ill-fated as far as predictions go. A few years ago, many here had UK landing some combination of Bridges, Simmons, Josh Langford, Monk, Fultz, Bolden, and Allen.

We got one of those guys.

Not that my view is worth any more than what's already been offered, but I personally don't think UK will land Quickley or Smart, as I think Green/Alexander both return at PG and UK lands Romeo Langford at SG in a surprise recruiting victory. Cal has alluded to a recruit from Indiana (the Trey Lyles "off the bench" story Cal has been telling presumably to Langford's family).

I also think Langford picks Kentucky. Cal has alluded to a kid from Indiana two or three times now, and few have mentioned it, which is strange.

I agree about Langford. Only modesty prevents me from explaining why.
