I think he sees the writing on the wall with Boom Williams and Mikel Horton, but I think Heard is actually a pretty solid back, but our offensive line was just horrible..when Heard had a hole to run through he was explosive

Only thing I can think of is he can see that he is gonna be down on the depth chart and instead of having to sit out a year again as a transfer somewhere he would just take his chances with the draft and the combine. But that just came out of nowhere and is a complete surprise to me and everyone else. I wish him the best of luck. You will always be a WILDCAT Braylon.

Our line was awful. Not being able to run behind that isn't exactly what I'd use to judge his pro prospects.

But hey, more carries for Boom and I like that a lot.

Also just read that he graduates in May to so that has a big impact I would say along with his spot on the depth chart. He is just gonna chase his NFL dream now for a few years I would say before he settles into his career in whatever field he graduates with a degree in. Good luck young man in whatever you do. Thanks for being a WILDCAT.

Hopefully Josh Clemons can be completely healed and by to his old form and depth won't be a problem...As a matter of fact we should be in much better shape...

UK down to 3 and a half RBs, depth getting to the critical stage. Have to wonder if he was having trouble in school. Good luck to him. UK needs Hall or a JUCO.

This may very well be the single dumbest thing I've seen in 10 years. Hell, I think I'll declare, too.

I agree. I would be delighted if he stayed throughout his eligibility, but in the end you have a Wildcat who will have earned his degree and wants to try his hand with the NFL.

Good Luck Braylon Heard!

This.

Let hope this Strange" move he is making motivates another RB or two to give UK a try.

Definitely hurts depth, but might give Clemons a fair shake. Boom, Kemp, Horton, Clemons is not bad at all. In desperate times we could see Timmons in the backfield as well.

Stoops on Heard: "I appreciate the hard work Braylon gave to (UK). He's been a model student-athlete and we wish him nothing but the best."

I still think that we will flip Hall from PITT. I look for us to sign 2 RB's now though purely from a depth standpoint.

That's surprising but if he graduates this year, why not? If he has a degree in hand the biggest reason to stay would be to see how things unfold under the new OC. Last season, the UK running game philosophy was pretty hard to understand.

Four RBs had between 59 and 74 rushes on the year (Heard was 2nd with 73 attempts, 1 behind Williams). Meanwhile, QB Towles had 145 rushing attempts. Yes, some were scramble but Towles still had more planned carries than any of the RBs.

Peace

Wish him the best. Think it's an odd choice as I see no future in the NFL for him but what do I know? Didn't have much help from the OL but then neither did any of the others. Also, never seemed to get 100% healthy after tweaking the ankle (?) early on. Didn't seem to have that explosive gear that he showed very early (admittedly against poor opponents).

Good luck to him. Not worried about our depth. We've got at least 3 SEC caliber backs and a potential 4th if, by some miracle, Clemons can regain his early career form. We'll sign at least 1 RB and then we'll have 4 ready to go. That ought to be enough, barring some ridiculous run of injuries.

No, you don't have to wonder, as it's already been mentioned, that he graduates in the Spring.

i still think we take 1 back and hall would be great to fill that spot. next year we are gonna need 2 but in this offense... 3 able bodied backs are all you need barring unheard of injuries.

If he declares for the NFL and doesn't sign an agent and or get picked. Is he still eligible to return to Kentucky. I'm refering to the Randolf Morris Situation a few years ago in basketball and was wondering if the same rule applied for the NFL draft?

I think wince you declare for the draft it is next to impossible to come back. Chances are that he has or will hire an agent. He would need to file a petition with the NCAA proving that he still has his amiture statis.

Hopefully he changes his mind in time. Incredible speed. Decent size. But poor patience and poor vision; combined with a poor OL.

Once he got the handoff, he went full speed to the hole. If a hole was there, it was a TD. If not, he was tackled.

He's graduating so it's not that odd. I don't see what another year would do. Give it a shot and if it doesn't work, he's got his degree. Best of luck to him.

You guys are horrible.

I came on here to hear good news, maybe about another RB commit, and first thing you tell me we just lost one instead.

Oh well, I wish him the best of luck anyway, he sure was explosive on that one run, not sure if he ever fully recovered from the injury he suffered on the play.

Thanks for coming to UK and best of luck to you Braylon, help show that backs from UK can play in the NFL, I hope you beat out Dyer for a spot on a team, and he probably doesn't have a degree to fall back on.

coming out of spring practice, imo, Heard was our best back. Still thought he was our second best. With a decent oline, he and Boom would have been quite a duo.

RBs want to get paid as quick as they can because their careers are so short. If he was going to be good enough to make it next year then he will be good enough to make it this year too. Everyone hates losing them early but all it takes is a look at Marcus Lattimore and realize why they do it.
