Damn. Brandon will be fine financially - he's under contract for the next three seasons at 13, 14, and 15 million, respectively. He'll be paid 13 million to rehab this year.

He isn't a player that relies on insane hops or athleticism to be effective, so as long as rehab goes well he should be able to sign another contract. He was already unlikely to match his previous contract so future money is likely unaffected.

In the short term, this complicted the Suns trading him and Bledsoe for Kyrie Irving. Cleveland would be unlikely to take the contract of a player who can't play this season.

Phoenix tried to trade him for a second round pick and couldn't find any takers. I don't know if it was because of his chronic injuries, or his numbers, but either way it's disappointing. I thought Knight would be a solid player in the league for a long time. His work ethic and intelligence just pointed toward a kid that wouldn't flame out. But his body failing him isn't something that he can overcome.

First off, hate to hear this for him. He was a great guy, proud to have him as a Cat.

I haven't watched him in the pros, but just from the sampling of fans of the teams he's played on on reddit, he hasn't been liked as a player. Seemed they viewed him as an inefficient volume scorer who wasn't a good facilitator and not a good defender. And advanced stats really don't look good for him. Great college player, great person, but maybe not a great fit for today's NBA. Good enough to earn enough money for several lifetimes. Smart as he is, I'm sure he'll manage it well enough to have himself and family set.

Dang, this really sucks for him.

Phoenix Suns backup point guard Brandon Knight suffered a torn ACL in left knee last week and is expected to miss the entire 2017-18 season, the team announced.

He will undergo surgery and an official timetable for his return will be determined at a later date, the team said.

Knight was injured during a pro-am game last Wednesday in Miami.

Terrible news. Hate to read this.

I was thinking his advanced stats were probably low. Although they were very good in Milwaukee, and I don't think trading him for MCW was really going in the right direction if we are looking at advanced stats.

He was on the cusp of the ASG while in the East. Needs to model himself after Lou Williams. Come in and put up points but dont expect too much more.

For 13 mil he can have my ACL.

So sorry to hear this about Brandon but I'm afraid he may be nearing the end of the road in his NBA career. Just seems he is injury ridden and running out of time and opportunities. There are so many other outstanding guards these days so competition is rough. Wish him the best though.

Hate to see this for him, but he is one of the hardest workers not only to come through UK, but also in the Association. If anyone will come back stronger from this set back, it will be him.

I hate to see this happen before the season even started. Knight is making pretty good money already and is a smart dude. I doubt we ever hear about this kid being broke after his ! basketball career is over. Most fans that watch the NBA can't stand Knight. They don't seem to understand the dude is good at what he does and if you ask him to do other things, it usually doesn't turn out well. The dude is a combo guard that doesn't mind putting up shot attempts. Some teams need a player like that, some don't.

Knight is good at a lot of things but not great at one thing or great at one thing from a NBA prespective. He got traded to the worst situation in PHX, a team with a million combo guards. I feel like Knight and Terrance Jones have had horrible luck being on teams with too many other similar players throughout their careers....

Tough break for Brandon Knight. I hope his rehab goes well and look forward to seeing back on the court again.

Unfortunately, this might be the end for Knight. He was losing as lot of steam anyway.

He still has 3 years (counting this one he sits out) left on his contract. Probably won't get much more than veteran minimum past that, but he's set to make about $44M over the next three years. He'll be playing somewhere in some capacity.

You would think as terrible as the nets are that they would take a chance on T jones and or Knight when he needs it. They need talent and those two are better than most of what they have.

Bring him here to rehab and mentor our young point guards. Win win situation

Umm, I'm pretty sure the Suns will want him to rehab there under their supervision considering that they'll be paying him 13 million during his rehab time.

You know, it's not like he's out of a job. He recently signed a five year 70 million dollar extension that runs through the year 2020. He's got no worries on the income front.

If he can get his 3 point shot up close to the 40% range, he'll surely grab another contract even if it's closer to the minimum than the MLE. No matter, there's no shame in being a limited role players who's made dang near 50 million.

Uh I said that in jest my friend

I didn't realize Brandon had fallen so far out of favor with the Suns and always seemed to put up good numbers. The internet hate seemed unjustified but his efficiency was not very good.

League-wide last season, he ranked 420th in offensive rating and 444th in defensive rating out of 476 qualified players who appeared in at least 20 games.
Id bet lots of "bad players" play on bad teams. which is the reason for the one or the other though?
