We got what we needed from the 5 spot tonight. 14 points, 12 rbs, 6blks on 6 of 9 shooting. Couldn't stop Smith, but who can? If we can get this from the big guys no one can stop us.

No one can stop us? Hold my beer lol. Some of you need to slow your role. This team is good and can be scary good next year but we know they want be here that long.

its fun to be able watch this team come together.I still feel like we haven't seen the ceiling yet.

Onyenso could be an even better shot blocker if he would stop winding up to block shots and just to straight up with his hand. Hopefully he will get better at that, but the guy should be watching all the tape of AD/WCS/Noel playing defense at UK that he can.

Did no one notice that Cal in the second half had both Ugo and Bradshaw playing at the same time? I thought that was interesting although I can't say it shut Miss State down or enhanced defensive rebounding. Still that was a first.

I thought they did an exceptional job on Tolu. He got most of his points in the last bit of the game, when it was already over. (scored 11 pts with 4 minutes left)

Jmo but one reason it was better was because we were much more suited to defend this team. With our big guys back, we showed vs UNC we aren't that bad guarding traditional post guys.

Where we struggle is the mobile big guys setting ball screens for capable guards. We try to switch and those guards just cook the big guy or intentionally run into them getting the call every time.

I agree they were better but they also gave up 26 points to Smith in only 27 minutes.
The post above nailed it. If Smith would have scored 26 points in 27 minutes for a MSU win, we'd be moaning about how he killed us in the paint.

That being said, I think both guys did look better last night.

I think Aaron needs to slow his roll with shooting 3's (Florida game got him excited!), and both need to box out and block shots, and we'll be fine.

That is a lineup I don’t want to see very much. But Cals hands are kinda tied without Thiero. I think ALL of Edwards minutes need to be at the 4 spot .

Bigs aways come long slower, takes them longer to grow into their body strength. That being said, they will continue to improve all season, it's a shame we couldn't have them 1 more year. Just look how much bigger & stronger AD looked a couple year after he left.

The coach in me still cringes watching them try to go after the ball before making contact with somebody, but that is a tough habit to break. They could do that in high school and still grab most rebounds, but in the SEC, it's a different deal.

Still, some real progress from them tonight, especially Ugo! What a weapon he has become off the bench.

It just goes to show ya, two pointers don't beat you. Threes beat you. We need our rim protectors and we need to run them off the line, and we should win most of our games.
