Due to a former Bradley pitcher being in a plane crash this past week, the series against the Braves has been canceled so the team may attend the funeral. The deceased is Mitch Janssen, who was an ace pitcher for Bradley a year ago, and was the pilot of the airplane.

UK, to my knowledge, is looking for an alternative opponent for this weekend.

I can't even begin to predict who UK might be able to schedule at this point. I guess we will find out soon enough.

Could it be a combination of opponents? Checking schedules for teams nearby I noticed that Miami, Ohio has canceled their game scheduled for tomorrow with Milwaukee in Oxford and will play a double header on Sunday. Maybe one or both of them would be open to scooting down to Lexington tomorrow.

Going to have to be something very creative to pull this off on such short notice. I can’t recall this ever happening before.

I guess that is certainly possible. You could do a round robin with every team playing 2 games against one another instead of 3. Then everyone loses a game on the weekend though. Would be hard to just add a 4th team, but maybe you could find a 5th? Say bring in Eastern Kentucky and Norfolk State, along with Miami, Ohio and Milwaukee. Then just do a 5 team round robin. Would have some teams playing some double headers to fit it into 3 days though.

Not sure how UK pulled this off. Oakland is slated to play Illinois-Chicago on the road this weekend in a traditional 3 game set and Norfolk State is scheduled to play Eastern Kentucky in Richmond in a traditional 3 game set.

So, not really sure how this will work out for say Eastern and Illinois- Chicago.

I sorta wonder if this will be like the makeup tourney UK played in I think it was 2016 in Florida.

Kentucky tweeted a thank you to Eastern Kentucky, Norfolk State and Oakland. Illinois-Chicago looks like the odd man out. Maybe something behind the scenes.

None of the four have tweeted anything yet about the change. I’m curious to see what, if anything, Illinois-Chicago has to say about it.

So, apparently UIC is traveling to play in Florida this weekend. Oakland did not have any games lined up for the weekend. The UIC/Oakland series is scheduled for the 13th through the 15th. As for the EKU/Norfolk series who knows.

Ohh, you're right. I didn't even notice that the Oakland/UIC series wasn't this weekend.

So, why not just play Oakland in a 3 game set?

I am just guessing that EKU and Norfolk will play tomorrow night. Then UK will get one game against them on Saturday before EKU plays them in a DH on Sunday. Will stretch Norfolk pitching though.

By the way, Oakland is 2-8 and have lost 8 in a row, including 4 to Cincy.

They are from Rochester, Michigan.

Just a guess but I would say travel for Oakland is probably the reason.

Yea, I don't know all the ins and outs of having to put it together to get an entire baseball team and their equipment somewhere, especially somewhere that is almost 6 hours away. Maybe it takes more than a full day to get it done.
