Kentucky plays well and people start talking about winning the East and going 9-3... Play poorly and people wanna bash coaches and players who are collectively better than we've seen at this school in a very long time.

We aren't a SEC contender but we don't suck either. We're somewhere in-between and will likely have a bunch more close games. Some we'll win, some we'll lose... Let's not act like we're an SEC power when things go right and the sky is falling when we struggle.

I don't think anyone with any shred of intelligence EVER was saying this bunch could go 9-3 this year. Otherwise, I agree with the OP completely. To his point we do have a bunch of people who know little about football making wild and crazy predictions on this board so I get that there probably have been some people predicting that. As I said it is all about being an intelligent UK fan, not getting too high or too low after each game.

There's a chasm of difference between saying the team will win 9 or that the possibility is there that they could win 9. In reality all that is being discussed is people's individual guesses anyway.

I do agree we have some fans that have giant mood swings which I never will understand. We're currently 4-1 overall, 2-1 in the SEC with 7 more opportunities to garner bowl eligibility and mathematically still in the SEC East race. Surely those can be discussed, can't they or is anyone that chooses to do so somehow a dummkopf?

There is a group within the fan base that waits for any hint of things going bad to make themselves heard. If we lose or don't win impressively enough then they are all over this board. When things are going or looking good...they're over on Rafters.

Improvement doesn't happen in a straight line and it doesn't happen over night. There isn't one team, one coach or one player that anyone can point to that hasn't had good games and bad games. The awful Florida team that the FOM was bemoaning that we couldn't beat doesn't look so bad today, does it?
People want to make knee-jerk assessments based on fractional data and ignore the big picture. They want to base judgments on post-game interviews and momentary glimpses through a camera's lens or a coach wearing his hat backwards. Usually they have some narrative that they want to support so they only acknowledge what supports that narrative and ignores what doesn't. They have players that they don't like for whatever reason... they are truly the Fellowship Of the Miserable.

I don't know why they feel the need to do this every time we lose or fail to cover the spread, but for whatever reason they do....

Two things never get a reply from this extreme group:
1) Coach Stoops has only really had 2 classes where he has recruited all year, and last years class could have been even better had we held on late to a couple,of them. This class is shaping up to be a game changer and they are getting signatures early to help set it in stone.
2) We only have 2 seniors on the offensive 3 deep right now, and do t start any seniors when Swindel is not starting. We have to mature but when we do, expect 2006ish improvement. Add that our D is pretty damn good and we have a chance against anyone.
