Biggest Improvement Stephen Johnson Made

Stephen Johnson is currently on pace to throw for 2300 yds. That would have only been 10th in the SEC last season. And yet, his 64% completion rate is 3rd/4th in SEC. He has a 5:1 TD-INT ratio which so high as to be unsustainable over the long run.

The biggest improvement from 2016 is 3rd down completion percentage. In 2016 it was 48%, but in 2017 it is currently 58%. The biggest jump coming on pass attempts on 3rd downs with 4-6 yards to go.

This isn't anything original, but I wanted to highlight the numbers. He's doing this without a Top 20 WR in the SEC, and an OL 10th in the SEC in sacks allowed. In other words, the offense's modicum of success is really the result of above average QB play.

I agree and add that number needs to end up around 2800 yards if UK is going to be a threat in the east. Johnson is good let the kid lead the team. He had Florida on the ropes until we took the ball out of his hands.

If UK would allow Johnson to be the focus of the offense, using the entire field. Getting the ball to the playmakers in space, I suspect he'd throw for 3000+. Versus the predictable, run the ball up the middle 90+% of the time.

But he's spreading it around to 7 or 8 different receivers a game, and they are all sure handed with only a couple of drops this year as a group. I would rather have a lot of players involved in the offense as opposed to one or two stars that teams can double or triple cover.

Him being able to hit Conrad has been huge for him. Just a year ago he couldn't hit that pass if his life was on the line for it. This year he hits it almost every time.

He was cured through a faith-healing by the age of like 14, and never missed time because of it . . . . unless it was 6th grade ball.
Well - wish someone would have slapped a little of that annointin' on LSUs ma k Jackson back in rh day

Dude would be SPASTIC on the sideline/bench -- then raining threes just like he rained f-bombs

Easy for you to say.

Interesting story . . . . prayed at the foot of his bed, like all night long, got up and told Mom he wouldn't be needing the meds anymore.

Mom and Dad were interviewed. I don't know their level of faith prior to the healing, but they were wearing crosses in the interview.

I'm joking around because I like Kroger laugh and make others laugh too

I'd never seriously ridicule his faith though
Getting off most of the meds that are out there these days- is an accomplishment in itself!

Good for him

BUT if i were him-- I'd claim to be having a relapse whenever the offensive line starts to underwhelm

You must have one bitchin' spell check.

I've experienced the same.

I wasn't dogging you, really, just using an old line regarding the partial words and such in your post.

I'd rather have one or two studs, but I respect the opposite view point.

I'd disagree with him spreading it around, or at least the numbers don't bear that out. GJ has a 20% target rate and then that number falls. Last season, GJ and Badet were both at 20%. In total, last season saw five players get at least 10% of the targets just like this year, so I don't think he's spreading the ball out anymore this year than last - arguably he's doing it less.

I'm posting from a mobile device (possibly alien technology) and I've not slept in the last 30 hours

Sometimes I just let the posting imperfections go ya know?
Like electronic Tourette's per se

He's learned to stay on top of his short throws over the line and that has opened up a whole new world for him to complete the 6 to 10 yarders to keep drives alive. I saw him drop down once against USC and it got blocked and he corrected it immediately and got back on track. He has made some real money throws right where we needed them a bunch of times already this year. The fact that he stays so calm also helps a lot with that.
