My parents are hanging up their season tickets after 45 years due to multiple reasons.

I’m trying to make them something for Xmas as a gift going through some of the biggest/most memorable home games of over that span. I can remember the most recent times from the late 90s on but do any of our more seasoned posters have recommendations on games before then.

Thanks for any help!

They’re hanging up their season tickets during an odd-numbered year? That’s odd. Florida, Tennessee, and Alabama next season. Only good game in even-numbered years is Georgia.

Great games some of you mentioned, but OP wants a list of HOME games

Leaving out the past 22 years, off top of my head, best home games Alabama 1997, UT 1977 although the upset in the bitter cold over UT in 1981 was sweet. Florida 1986, first Louisville game 1994, upsetting Georgia (#11 IIRC) in 1988 come to mind. Mumme's first game and the debut of Air Raid, Louisville 1997 was a blast

I still have tickets that I never used from the 2003 Arkansas game where Jared was yelling at fans to not leave and we were going to come back.. was a record for a while as far as I know for the longest game.. that has to be a big one.. and I'd be willing to part with those never used tickets if it would help you out and if I can still find them.. I use to be a season ticket holder myself but making the trip from Toledo Ohio got to be to much so I understand your parents wanting to give them up..

Its been mentioned, but the 2007 win over #1 LSU I think is the biggest win at Commonwealth / Kroger. This is the biggest win, IMHO, because LSU went on to win the national championship that year. I may be mistaken, but I think this is the only time we have beaten a team in the same season that that team was national champion (save 1950 when we beat Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl).

My favorite home games:

-1997 Alabama
-2007 LSU
-2010 Georgia
-2011 Tennessee
-2007 Louisville
-2021 Florida

I played in a State Championship soccer game in Georgetown that night and afterwards my parents went to the game. They thought they might only see the second half but ended up getting quite the full game out of it.

Good selection but you might add the Tennessee game from 1976 which eventually got us a share of the SEC title and our first bowl in 25 years.
Oh most definitely!! I would add the Penn St game also. We played 7 Top 20 teams that season with 4 of them being out of the SEC when you count the Peach Bowl.

One more interesting note on the 76 team is we lost to Maryland and Coach Claiborne who went 11-1 with their only loss being to Houston in the Cotton Bowl or they could have went undefeated. 5 years later he would become Fran's successor with all kinds of hope that his alma mater could reach those hieghts!!

It has to be LSU in 2007. Any other game would be a distant second. #1 team, eventual National Champion, overtime game. It may be 100 years before UK beats an opponent of that stature again.

UK played at PSU in '77.
LSU and Georgia weren't either, nor were Tulane, UT and Wisconsin in 84. Just realized he said "home" games. I thought he would want the best games overall from 1977-1990. Most of those games I mentioned can be found to put on a flash drive from Youtube.

However, the 1976 Penn St. game was in Commonwealth Stadium and was another great one which UK won!!

I was building a deck on my first house as I listened to the '77 PSU game. Dallas Owens' INT was the turning point. About jumped out of my skin.

I recall Art Still picking up a fumble (INT?) and running towards the goal line & Cawood saying to the effect, "LSU chasing after him! But I don't know what they think they are going to do if the catch him." Funniest line I ever heard Cawood utter.

The Prince of Wales (Charlie III) attended the '77 demolishing of Uga.

At the '84 HofF Bowl, Wisconsin paid for a Budweiser trailer to show up in the parking lot. They dropped down the trailer sides & there were 5-6 taps on each side. Anyone could have as much as they wanted. Those folks know how to do a football game. Whiskey had 5 first round draft choices on their team but we prevailed 20-19 on a late FG.

How about in the last 53 years? We beat #6 OM & Archie Manning 10-9 with Dicky Lyons scoring all 10 of our points.

Al Toon was the dude I remember, he was a BIG WR!!

Art was a BEAST!!! Big and Athletic!! Josh Allen was the closest defensive player to do what Art did, but he wasn't even as dominant!!I loved it when Curci would line him up on offense.

1977- Penn. St., LSU and Georgia
1981- UT
1984- Tulane, UT, Wisc.
1985- Clemson

All wins and all great UK games!!!
The 77 Penn St game was a big one, everyone pumped up for that. Oklahoma came in one year as well and that generated alot of excitement too, just cant remember what year. Thats back when Oklahoma was the BIG name in college football along with Nebraska.

Think it was 1978 but it could have been 1979.
