Looking at who we return not taking into account super seniors

QB-?transfer
RB-Wright, McClain
WR-Magwood, Key, Brown
TE-Dingle, Kattus
LT-Wally or Goodwin
LG-Burton
C-Cox
RG-Young
RT-Flax
DE-Rypka
DT-Ox, Walker
NG-Rogers, Hayes
OLB-Weaver,Wade
MLB-Jackson
WLB-Wallace
NB-Afari, Tisdale
CB-Valentine, Phillips
FS-Geiger
SS-Lovett?

Obviously big questions are at skill positions namely QB.But looking at the depth chart lots of returning starters and in almost every spot you lose a senior you have a young guy who has been either pushing for a starting spot or is highly touted. Assuming we get a qb and don’t have unexpected departures we could have even higher expectations 2023.

This is not your Granddad’s nor your Dad’s UK football, this is big boy, smash mouth, in your face, we gonna lineup and still your dreams football!
LFG!

Can we play our first game before worrying about next year
Can we make an post about the youth in the depth chart and 2023 without a stupid reply. It may be impossible for some people to multi task their brains into actually being excited for this year and still think about how good 2023 and beyond looks. I understand if that’s a tall task for you if so just please ignore these types of threads.

Let's not fall victim to what got the basketball program where they are. Take care of business at hand then move on to other business

I’m pretty sure none of us are playing this year so us talking about 2023 likely won’t hurt performance. The idea that you can only talk about the next game is smart for players but doesn’t make sense for a message board IMO.

Fair point, but some of us old dudes just hope we get to see the next game let alone the next season.

There are a lot more roster strengths than questions for 2023. Everyone knows Levis will be gone, and that is scary. But this coaching staff knows that, and they will do what they need to do. I am not sure Deuce Hogan is as limited as Ferentz suggested. I liked the way Hogan moved and made decisions in the spring game. The spring game is a chance to show tools, but not a great stage for predicting performance later. One way or another, our coaches will put a Qback on the field who can get the job done. I have no doubts about that. That is how Levis got to Lexington in the first place.

Let’s wait til game 4 before we anoint this team. I feel many people in the media are not sold on UK and it will take a win in the swamp against Florida to convince.

Good list, but we can probably assume that Weaver is gone if he has a good year, and probably the same applies to Rogers and Ox.

I think you are getting out ahead of things. All three should have positive seasons, but none of the three are close to ready for the NFL draft. I do not expect any of them to leave early. Between Rogers and Oxendine, one might not even start because of Walker. Weaver is a potential NFL player, but skinny and needs another year in a college strength development program.

You don’t see many guys go from not on mock drafts to declaring early. Typically guys won’t declare early unless they are projected in first 3 rounds and none of those guys are in that range at the moment. A good indication preseason is guys showing up in every All-SEC prediction and you just don’t see that with those guys.

Im excited now. 44 yrs without being ranked in the AP Preseason poll will do that to a guy as will a top 15 recruiting class and two Heisman Candidates and a D absolutely loaded. And a HC who is just 2 wins away from the most ever at UK.

It surprises me a little that this is not receiving more attention. Not that it is a secret. People know about it. But this is a big deal, and people are not really talking about it much. Maybe next week.

I just don’t pay any attention to media hype especially when it’s football in the SEC. One loss by a so called SEC power drops them 3 spots but let UK lose and they will drop out of any poll and have to win 5-6 in a row to return. Not at all fair but the reality of the SEC.
