It seemed under Gran we could run the ball even when everybody knew we were going to run the ball and the first year after he left. Has there been a fundamental change in the way the running backs and the line is trained? Gran is still on the staff I think he sure could help our running game.

Listening to Anthony White and Van Hiles podcast, they pointed out that Ray has missed the creases in the Zone scheme NUMEROUS TIMES this season. It’s one of the reasons why his production decreased when we played the best SEC defenses.

The Zone rushing offense we are running now is TOTALLY dependent on the RB taking what the defense gives them. When the RB makes the wrong cut, it causes all kinds of problems, including holding penalties, which we have had too many of this season.

Thanks for posting the above. What I don't understand is why is Davis missing so often. He sure seemed to hit the creases last year, especially in our game against Vandy game last year.

The OL is much improved and playing well in both phases. Noticable difference moving cox back to center because Jager just didn't have it and couldn't snap the ball to boot.

Jmo but Ray isn't given the carries he needs. He is a guy that gives you 4 yards a carry then hits a homerun. It's been that way since the beginning of the season except with Florida.

After Florida, we reiterated our commitment to the pass game and he started getting about 12 carries a game and they were almost always on first downs. The Mizzou game he had 75 yards in the mid first quarter on 9 carries. Then he inexplicably didn't get another carry till the second half iirc. Think about the sc game - 4 yards a carry then hits a beautiful run only to barely get the ball again.

Does Ray miss some holes in the run? Sure. But his production dropoff is mostly tied to his lack of usage.

He is great when he hits it right, but because he can break the long runs, he tries to do that when it isn’t there instead of just taking the short gain. He LOVES kicking it outside and the defenses have figured that out

That's surprising because one of his strengths was considered to be his vision.

Re BBW, UK's had poor recruiting and bad luck recruiting OL of late. Goodwin a flop and gone, Bingham a flop and gone, Nik Hall a back injury that required surgery, who knows if he can return. Those three were thought to be the nucleus of the '24 OL, now all are gone. I've mentioned this before...if Spring started today and without portal help UK's OL would likely be:

LT-Dylan Ray
LG-Paul Rodriquez
C-Koby Keenum
RG-Jagar Burton
RT-Courtland Ford.

Scary.
