Big 12 votes to expand

I think Conference USA might be in some trouble. AAC and supposedly the Sun Belt looking to expand.

What a turd conference. Now UC fans will be puffing out their chests. If it ain’t SEC, it doesn’t matter. But the new Big 12 is just as good as the PAC 12, ACC, and certainly Big Ten. Which is sad. College football has been watering down for a long time. The SEC killing everyone is almost a double edged sword. Any other college football game is turning into a NFL game: sleep medicine.

Hmmm

I'd rank the conferences differently -

SEC
ACC/BIG10
BIG12
PAC12

I like the additions of the teams mentioned to the Big12, but am surprised they didn't go for bigger fish. I know they just don't have the revenue, but they really needed to land a big one or two.

+1.

As an Independent, Cougars earned $74 million revenue for 2019. Not SEC numbers, but nearly as much as Iowa State ($76 million) brought in.

You have to figure there are Mormons everywhere, and you know they’re watching BYU, if they like sports at all.

Same for Utah.

ACC has Clemson...Then what?

Big10 has OSU, Michigan, Penn St...

Big10 in a landslide over the ACC.

And Wisky, Michigan St., and Iowa. Big 10 is deeper with talent. I think they would still get the nod if FSU, UM, and UNC started to get their act together.

Only one real contender comes out of there every other year. Clemson is a real threat 4 out of 5 years.

This is all in prep for an expanded playoffs. Big 12 is hoping to get one of the automatic bids. I can see 8 total. 5 automatics and 3 at large with G5 getting one of those at large if they have a top 20 team.

I think we find out about CU in the next couple years. For the first time Dabo had some coordinator turnover, well since they become a good program. Miami hired a coach from the Saban tree, an alumni with deep roots in the south Florida talent pool. Personally I want a good Miami and FSU, anything that hurts UF I am all for. Clemson hits Ga and Fl hard on the recruiting trail, Kirby has hurt them in Georgia, I think Napier and Cristobol with hurt him in Florida.

But to the topic of this thread. How long will the Big12 be considered a P5 conference? Losing Texas and OU and picking up the 4 they did hardly screams P5. Will Cincy become the dominant team in the conference? Making the playoffs showed the best team they every had was maybe top half of the SECm but I think 7-8 teams beat them, UK, UGA, UT in the East and Arky, OM, A&M and Bama in the West. It's almost and American Athletic conference when all the teams get moved around.

The Big 12 minus Texas and Oklahoma and plus Central Florida and BYU and Cincinnati and Houston is a glorified Mid-Major conference.

The end game which will take a few more years is four Power Conferences, the SEC, ACC, B10 and PAC12, that each has two divisions, and those division winners are seeded the way teams are today for an eight team playoff.

The Big-12 is headed for the dustbin of history as a major conference.

I could actually see a big 3, Pac12 might improve with new coaches at USC, tons of talent in the area, Lanning heading to Oregon, great to elite recruiter, but our D got much better with the addition of Muschamp. I would be a little nervous if I were a Duck fan.
