Betting on NCAA Title

For those of you that are planning to bet on UK to win the title, you might want to place that bet now, as we are still flying a bit under the national radar. Las Vegas Insider has us currently at 14 to 1 odds, which is behind eight other teams. Oklahoma leads the pack at 7 to 1.

If you wait and we sweep the rest of our games and the SECT, the payoff will be much lower. Anyway you look at it, UK is playing great basketball right now. The Cats are much, much better than their record indicates. On a neutral court ( with a lot of BBN in the stands), I like UK chances more than any other team.

Back on December 12th, I was in Vegas and we were 3/1 favorites. Couldn't see throwing away $$$ with those kind of odds.

Here's a question - who would we be a underdog to an a neutral floor right now?

Now, winning 6 such games in a row is a different proposition altogether, but if you get odds that pay enough and we advance far enough, you can hedge. In 2014 I put money on UK at 40-1 after they lost to USC jr, then hedged against Wisky, which worked out perfectly because we were favored by 2 and won by 1. At that point I just bet half of what I would've won on UConn. So, betting on a team to win the title doesn't mean said team has to win the title for you to make money.

Realistically, I would put us about 40 to 1 to win it all right now, based on where we will likely be seeded.
