Best walk on to ever produce at Kentucky????

Brassow was very highly recruited, not close to a walkon.
Not "very highly recruited", but definitely not a walk-on.

Brassow was signed by CM Newton (I think) in the spring of 89, prior to the Pitino hiring. It was obvious that UK was going to be way, way, way short on players for 89-90 (UK ended up with 8 scholarship players), so Newton signed Brassow.

Check out the team photo on Jon Scott's site. More coaches and managers than players.

Cameron Mills was a walk-on, at least for his 1st 2 years. He's the easy answer here.

Cameron Mills hit a big shot, but Ravi Moss was the superior player and athlete
Nope.

Mills played a role on 2 FF teams. Hell, he scored 32 points in 4 FF games, double digits in both in 97. Moss was a superior athlete, but there's no way what he contributed compares to Mills. Moss got most of his PT on a terrible team in 05-06, mainly because Rondo couldn't get along with Tubby.

Their stats are similar, Mills was a better shooter, Moss was a better defender and passer. I concede Mills played on much better teams

Marquis Estill played one year off scholarship. Probably 01-02, as I count 14 guys who would have been scholarship players.

He went off scholarship, because we needed another and, I think, he was given free tuition for grades, his mother working for the university, or something like that. He wasn't a walk-on though, because he came to UK on a BB scholarship. I don't know if he was the best, but Junior Braddy was a good walk-on. He played baseball and walked on in basketball.

I'd go with Mills. Plus I got to meet him at barnes and noble for an autograph of his UK basketball book. He is very nice.

Mills hit THE shot against Duke which carries the most weight.....but Moss probably overall better performer

Cameron Mills, without a doubt
Absolutely. I knew a girl that went to school with Brassow in Houston and she said he was highly recruited and surprised a lot of people by picking UK.

I would have to go with Anthony Epps.

If I remember right, Epps was suppose to be a walk on his Freshman year, but ended up on scholarship.

Pitino was after Charles O'Bannon, so he convinced Epps to walk on to keep a scholarship open for O'Bannon.

When O'Bannon decided to play for UCLA (and play with his older brother Ed) the scholarship opened up and was given to Epps.

I'm pretty sure that is how it happened.

Dont get me wrong, he wasnt a Top 10 type highly recruited player but as far as walk-on goes, Jeff had many other opportunities.

Eddie Sutton signed Jeff and he committed early. At the time he was a talented but under the radar player, however, when the UK mess occurred many schools came courting him in the event he was given his release.

Somebody really say DA?

This. As I recall, there were just some temporary rumors/discussion about Epps possibly walking on to make room for O'Bannon. But he was NEVER actually a walk on, just like Brassow was never a walk on, and Derek Anderson (of course!) was never a walk on.

What I've learned from this thread is some of our fans may need a basic education on what and who qualifies as a walk on.

Nehemiah "Junior" Braddy

Cameron Mills was part of the 98 championship team and hit one of the most memorable shots in program history but Braddy was the most productive walk on. IMO

Braddy at times as walk on was laying better or a good as anyone on the team.

This guy and it's not even close.
