Best Comeback Since Mardi Gras Miracle!

I was texting my friends this will go down as one of my favorite regular season games. Nothing going right lost last couple of years to Zags. Football team losing players left and right just a whole lot negative vibes then Pope makes the adjustment and pulled off a tremendous win on the road against a top ten team-wow

I’m once again impressed w/ Pope’s 2nd half adjustments by running plays to get specific guys shots and mixing in some zone to negate their guard penetration. If Cal was still here I dare say we lose by 15-20+ by continuing to try and force a square peg in a round hole in the 2nd half.

We also caught a nice break when the Zags had no timeouts left on that last possession and the ball ended up in a non-ball handler’s hands after Carr missed the 2 FT’s in OT! Caught a few breaks actually b/c Gonzaga missed several FT’s and open looks late. Those breaks seemingly never go our way!

I was watching that and almost turned it off. Best part was Dale Brown sweating and nervously rubbing his hands late in the game. Then one of their players was walking off after it was over, looked into the camera and just shrugged.....loved it.

Ok but the Zags were #7 and we didnt have our PG.
This baby, under all the circumstances, may be the greatest comeback of all time for UK.

At Gonzaga
Gonzaga #7
Gonzaga led by 18 points w/19 minutes left in
The game.
Kentucky’s starting PG did not play and his backup Krissa went out with about 10 minutes left.

Brand new team, brand new Coach in early Dec.

For me personally, it was more impressive than all the others!

The Mardi Gras Miracle and Duke comeback came to mind when I thought about it. I forgot about the Louisville game. I only remember the foul with less than a second and him hitting 3 free throws.

That was a fun one, the Kevin Knox/SGA team. I think that was the SEC/Big 12 challenge and we needed that dub really bad.

This was the game that came to mind for me. I remember where I was for that game, I was up in the ADKs at an ice festival, dead of winter. I remember kind of thinking this game might be rough, we didn't look all that great, and this was kind of the start of Cals downfall years.

Sure enough were down like 50 to 35. And I sort of stop paying attention because at this point the espresso martinis are flowing and I'm with friends. Sure enough I look up and see that we came back and then held onto win. That was one of the more surprising games in memory.

Based on how we looked against Clemson, and our PG (and possibly best player) being out. I did not have a lot of confidence last night.

Great, great comeback, but considering what was on the line, nothing compares to the 98 Dook game. Tubby played chicken with Coach Rodent and Coach Rodent swerved off the road.
