I flew in the Air Force for 28 yrs and as such have been to virtually every city of significance in the US. I've always said that of all the places I went the biggest pleasant surprises were Madison WI and Boise. Hidden gems.

Never lived their but worked on a Gov. Project there five years ago. If you like beer, they have quite a few breweries that make a lot of beer. In fact, if anyone is as old as me can remember Coors of the 60’s was very good beer and these breweries in Boise always produced a light lager that tasted like the Original, not the garbage they sell now. Good food if you like steak and big taters.
