Ben Howland Takes Another One Out of Kentucky

Giant  to the responses in this thread so far. Good for Wright, Miss St is a solid choice for the kid and will likely become by second favorite SEC team now that they have a couple KY kids on the roster.

Uh, if you are referring to my "giant" post, think I stated that it was good that the kid got a scholarship to a division one school. (see quentin Goodwin-sp) but Howland or anyone else will not get anyone out of Kentucky that Kentucky truly wants unless its a kid out of Loserville that is a diehard loserville fan. Just stating a FACT if you dont like it so be it..

He is a great kid, I will never understand insulting a 17 year old, what exactly is the point in that?

Well, my Drill Instructor sure as hell did. Besides, what did I say that wasn't true? He would have better off going to KWC or Western, and avoiding the wasteland that is Starkville Mississippi.

I guess he should have joined the military instead then. While I don't think MSU is the best place for him, I don't think saying, "he is apparently is about as smart as an unpainted wall" was all that necessary.

Who let Alumni Clown back on the board? I thought he was gone.

Anyone who would go to WKU or some other podunk KY school (not named UK or UL) when they have a chance to go to MSU would in fact be the stupid one.

Yes your post was one of the ones I was referring to. Everybody on this board knows that if Cal wanted a KY kid Cal would get the KY kid. There is literally no reason to type it, the fact that you seem to take it so seriously/personally means you may need to go find some new hobbies.

Glad, you are here to tell me what to type on a message board. Dont know how I have managed to get by this long without you. LOL. Think the purpose of a message board is to convey YOUR thoughts on a topic so save it dude. If you dont like the content of the message skip over it. Think its funny that you tell me I'm "sensitive" about your post but yet you respond to me after I call you out. LOL Its great how convenient that is isnt it?

You can have your opinion, but to say the kid is dumb, that is too much. I don't think much of their current coach, but the school ain't that bad of a place to go to school at. It's not like the kid turned down UK. Wish him well and let it be.

HE was conveying HIS thoughts to you. I agree with gyrator, pretty shitty to make light of this guy for making a decision that he thinks is in his best interest. I've never heard of him so he's not the caliber of player we concentrate on. Doesn't mean he didn't dream of representing us at UK and had to settle for what HE decided was the next best thing.

Dude, think maybe you better go back and look at the context of the post I made. Never made one comment to put the kid down in ANYWAY. or make "LIGHT" of anything. Simply stated that Howland wouldnt take anyone out of Kentucky that CAL wanted. If that offends you or Gyerator or whoever or you think that insensitive so be it. I could care less. Just stating a FACT.

I think Kyballcrazy is just getting lumped in with AG....

I respect the kid's decision. As far as whether he's "smart", he's at least smart enough to turn down Crean, who was on him (that reads funny when it's Crean) last year.

That makes two Howland has snagged from Owensboro, Aric Holman and now Wright. Owensboro-to-Starkville pipeline? Who knew?

If Alumni had a speck of class he would simply admit he shouldn't have called the kid dumb. That has nothing to do with political correctness. It has to do with basic manners.

Good for him. Glad to always see Ky talent get a D1 schollie even if it isn't at UK and play in a power 5 conference. Can't wait for his first big game against UK and people whining on here about how Cal should of gotten him.

This. A local Ky kid gets an offer from an SEC school--the sort of thing that's become embarrassingly rare in recent years--and his natural reaction is to bash him and call him stupid for accepting it? That has nothing to do with political correctness, instead it's just being petty and lacking any sense of class.

Some fans might question Cal if the kid lights Ky up, but most understand the kids we usually end up with are a higher quality player. Sometimes the lower rates kid has a better than expected career, but when dealing with recruiting, you play the odds and go with the higher rates kids since they pan out better than lower rates kids. I think since Cal has been Kentucky's coach, most of our fans have a better understanding of this.

Well, if there is one thing a sports message board is known for, it's basic manners.

For real though, congrats to the kid.

I am real glad for him, anytime a kid can get a free ride for a collage education go for it. Glad to see local kids do well.

Don't send your kid to the marines or army then...

I'm sure he would have loved to get interest and an offer from UK. He didn't and he went with his best option. Starkville isn't that great but saying it is worse than Owensboro or Bowling Green might be pushing it and MSU has a much nicer campus with a much better program. Anyone who thinks a kid should turn down MSU for WKU or KWU is lacking intelligence.

I hope the kid does well at MS, but saying they are a better school than WKU is not correct Western has a good BB tradition...
