It's that time..... Baseball America and College Sports Madness have UK in as a # 2 seed. BA has the Cats in the Louisiana-Lafayette regional with ULL as the # 1, UK as # 2, Southeastern Louisiana as # 3, and ta dum Bryant as the # 4 seed.
CSM has us in, you guessed it, the Louisville regional, with UL the # 1 seed followed by UK at Creighton the # 3, and Princeton as the # 4 seed.
We currently have an RPI of 37 with the # 28 Strength of schedule. We can help or hurt our cause with the 4 remaining SEC series, and OOC games with IU, EKU, and Murray State.
There you are.... Have at it UK posters !

Nice job AgesBlue, I agree with us most likely being in Louisville regional, or a Big 10 regional, if there is one. Who knows, if we win 3 of the last 4 series, and win 2 or 3 games in the Sec tournament, we might actually get to host a regional. Slight long shot, but our SOS will be impressive with USC and Ole Miss series upcoming.

Thanks, I was just thinking about how close the SEC and NCAA tourneys are. I also agree that we will most likely end up in Louisville again. Interesting that you mentioned a Big 10 regional host, I forgot if it was BA or CSM that had Minnesota hosting a regional....... Brrrr

When you said Minnesota, I looked them up. They are currently 23-12 on the season, with an RPI of 32. However Michigan is 28-10 with an RPI of 25.
We played in the Michigan regional in 2008, I believe. Seems like they had just renovated their stadium, and it was pretty nice, we knocked them out of that regional, also pretty nice !!

Thanks for the post. I follow most of those sites (though College sports madness was a new one to me). I think the season comes down to this:

-Win the two series we should win, and we're safely in as a 2 seed (also would help to make sure to avoid any sweeps)
-Win the two we should win + win either of the USCe or OM series and we may get to host if we also take care of business during the week.
-Win all four remaining series and I think we're a lock to host and we'll be contending for SEC title.

Assuming that we just "hold serve", then I think the consensus is right and we either end up in Louisville or the Big 10. I don't think the Big 10 RPIs merit a host slot, but the committee seems to hate giving the SEC and ACC to many host slots, so I think we could see it happen. I'd gladly take a 2 seed at either Michigan or Minny.

if we get to Louisville, we certainly won't be favored, but our top 3 pitchers give us a shot in that series. It's actually pretty unfair to UL to make them play us again as I'm sure they'd much rather play a different 2 seed.

As I looked at the bracket projections, there was not a regional north of the Mason/Dixon line. That would be the only reason I thought the Big 10 MIGHT get a host region, but they have work to do to get one.

I think your last paragraph is the most interesting thing. Louisville having to play its in-state rival once again seems unfair to a team that has been good in the regular season. I know the projections have had UK in Louisville all season but I just don't think it'll happen.
