Barion Brown video Day 1 of All-American Bowl practice

I'm trying to calm my expectation, but this kid might start from Day 1 on campus. Selfishly, I want Wan'Dale to come because we could really make a run for the East. Our 2022 schedule is favorable. I like it a lot.
No reason he can’t start at wr with Wandale in the slot

How did Fearby do this past weekend? I watched a little of that game and saw UL signee Popeye Williams speed rush off the end and get a big sack (he may have jumped, but it was not called). Also saw a Clemson DB make a spectacular leaping interception that was incredibly acrobatic. But, did not hear Fearby’s name mentioned.

Is Brown in the same mold as the receivers we’ve saw at Alabama the last few years?

My question: what WRs have stood out in the practices over the past 2-3 years? I am trying to discern if success in practices is indicative of success on the college football playing field.

Sounds like Brown can win a lot of 50/50 balls. Still needs to work on route running skills.

He's roughly the same size as Metchie & Davonta Smith but slightly smaller than Jameson Williams. Skill wise, it seems like I've read he explosive like them, but he isn't a real polished route runner as he played in the backfield as a QB, WR/RB from the coaches just trying to put the ball in his hands as much as possible.

From 24/7 site:

SAN ANTONIO - The Top247’s No. 2 offensive tackle in five-star Kiyaunta Goodwin is in the Alamo City this week competing at the All-American Bowl. Practice began Tuesday and the 6-foot-8, 340-pound blue-chipper made an impression.

“I think the biggest thing with him is the combination of size, athleticism, good body, foot quickness, strong at the point of attack, can anchor,” 247Sports National Analyst Cooper Petagna said. “Overall the foundation and athletic traits have showed up in practice.”

I hope Barion can get in the ear of Igbinosun about joining him at UK.
Really wish we could get that kid, sounds like Ole Miss nailed him down

This is gonna be a tremendous week for Goodwin working against the kind of edges he will see every week in the SEC if he is our LT. Should be a great springboard straight into UK offseason weight room, then Spring practices. I predict by Blue White game he establishes himself as 2022 starting LT.

I'm still holding out hope, February 2nd still gives us some time.

I would love for Goodwin to be an anchor at LT from the jump, but I think he still needs some body composition work done to improve his endurance. But I do think he will be in the rotation as a true freshman, I just don't look for him to start day one.

Sounds like OM is losing their DC, maybe that helps.

We're getting another special WR

I feel like I've seen Barion's move before...

The Bond kid and Kojo both just lit it up. It really looked shockingly lopsided between the DBs and WRs. Not sure if the DBs just had a bad day or what.
Brown got interfered with on one of those, and got picked off by Igbinosun on one. Igbinosun got made a fool of on another.

Hope fans have patience. Like Bowden, he needs to focus on the one position to get better. Lynne, IMO, never developed into an elite WR. He was an elite football player and only a handful of players could have given Eddie Gran the palate to create what UK did after they settled on LB as the QB, but not an elite WR in college. These one-on-one drills show aptitude only. Brown looks like a weapon and he will get the time to develop his craft and role on this team, something Lynne did not get.

Straight line it didn’t look like Brown was able to create a lot of separation like some of the other guys. But what I read was that he has great hands and ability to go get the ball.

Exactly. We should all be excited but not because of that video. Had no idea he was that raw. He'll need major work with coen and co on route running. That weird arm waving won't work.

He made a good choice. They turned wandale into a completely different player. They can for this kid too if he puts in the work

Does he project as a LT? Haven’t been paying attention to thst, was just too happy we kept him.
