Ban lifted by Pitt

Teams always end up releasing them. They should save themselves the ridicule from the start.

Pitt had every right to stop that and folded like a lawn chair.

Those ACC sacred cows......

They didn't actually release him. They found out they misinterpreted the rule and had f'd the situation up so they "released" him even though they didn't have any authority to restrict him anymore.

It was a catch 22. Even if the rules supported their side, once Cam committed to UNC, if they hadn't relented, they would have looked like evil, unreasonable Nazis. Other teams recruiting against them would have used it against them and that would have been much more detrimental than having to face him in the ACC this year.

I'm sure Kevin Stallings didn't cave. This was the Univ President or AD.

It sucks to be Johnson when the NCAA lays the hammer down on UNC and ruins his transfer...........[roll] Sorry couldn't say that with a straight face. He will likely get his master's degree, be working on his doctorate, and finish his basketball eligibility before the NCAA finally rules on UNC.

That program calls the shots. MJ looking over the NCAA saying you better do this or else.

It's like when Roy told them where to stick it, I respect that if it works.

Of course we now have scam johnson. It's seems all things in sports in that state are scams and scum

I bet a very compelling letter from the Pitt AD will be on its way to the NCAA regarding NC's case. Quid Pro Quo.

And Thad Matta spontaneously resigned. They could fight it if they wanted, but were probably told by conference officials not to upset the apple cart when it comes to the big ACC players.

If this were a star going from UNC to Clemson, you better believe that rule would be upheld.

It's not ridicule, it's attention. (Anything to bring attention to the program...) It's easy to relinquish later...

Ha, and I always thought it was the luck of the draw for recruits past the top 20 teams....silly me. Blame it on Cal. (Yeah I vaguely remember the years of a four star committing to UK and it being a coup...

Shouldn't of been a ban in the first place. Kid should be allowed to go wherever he wants if he graduated.

There was no rule to uphold though is the point. The only thing I guess the ACC could have done is go back and allow Pitt to restrict him from transferring to UNC at all. But since they had already released him to transfer to UNC they had no ability to make him sit out a season since he's a grad transfer.

More reality makes it disgusting to even talk UNC and allow that program to even compete while under investigation.

Still a fringe NIT team.

Lost Jackson.
Lost Bradley.
Lost Meeks.
Lost Hicks.

Added Johnson.

Good luck with that.

They also lost Britt.

Not to mention.. 19th ranked class this year, 14th last year. It's not like they have quality holdover talent from those two classes, like a Briscoe, Gabriel, Twins, Johnson, Lee, Poythress, Jones, Lamb..

Those 3 and 4-star sub50 guys have to come out swinging or it will be very problematic for UNC.

I'd also like to add Johnson and Paige. UNC had no business getting past the 2nd weekend this year.. their best team was two years prior and they've been trending slightly downward since then. The cupboard has been consistently drained, and nothing has been restocked. They got by last year thanks to 4 games in a row of NCAA interference.. but they can't overcome that now.

The Arkansas games was the worst. Just criminal.

Wonder how much bribe money Roy paid Pitt ?... Plus what the point of having rules if they're never enforced ? OH wait a minute, what's wrong with me ? The rules are enforced. As long as you're not the University of Notorious Cheaters .
