His high school tapes remind me a lot of Howard in high school. They try to murder the rim with every dunk.

Dwight Howard sucks. Bout the most unreliable big ever in big games.
Yeah. Who the hell would would want a guy who was named all-NBA 1st team 5 consecutive years, and led a team to the finals where I bet you can't name a single one of his teammates?

Frickin' slacker. Who wants to deal with that kind of garbage?

PERSPECTIVE. Look it up, learn the definition, then go get some.

I can see the comparison, both physical freaks, albeit Bam a shorter version.

Was struck by Cal mentioning Bam's skill level on offense the other day. Scouts seemed to note he was a work in progress like most high school bigs in that department but Cal seems to expect something differently. I was more than ecstatic about the pickup just on the notion he was a rebounding/high motor defensive stalwart.

Eek.

Big shoes to fill. Howard is an perennial NBA all-star. This kid is in his sr year in HS.

I'm obviously not comparing him to nba howard. I saw him play in high school quite a bit and Bam reminds me a lot of him. Not saying he'll be a head case or anything. Just a similar game at the same point in their life.

Cross between high school version of Shaq and Randle to me. Not saying he is or will be that good, just thought of those two when I saw the highlights.

Turkoglu, Nelson, Lewis, Redick. If I sat and thought for a minute I could think of a few more. Getting old.

But I agree completely on Howard. He has performed at an elite level. Any issues he's had have been a combination of between the ears and injury related.

I'll take Dwight Howard's game all day long. Leave the between the ears stuff to Cal, and pray for health.

His coach compared him to Shawn Kemp. Here's Kemp in high school. Bam is more physical, Kemp was smoother at same age imo.

Good comparison though. Bam more physical both are men amongst boys though. Really wish Kemp played at Kentucky!

I think Bam is more skilled away from the basket than some others who have been mentioned.

He actually reminds me more of a slightly more athletic Glenn "Big Dog" Robinson.

Look at Bam's tapes. You will see him execute cross over dribbles and hit 15 footers. Dwight Howard is a great player ( and taller than Bam) but he cannot handle the ball or shoot like Bam who is unique. More like a bigger Barkley. I would take that in a heart beat.

I will be surprised if he doesn't move up in the rankings.
Cal said the other day that he is 6'-10 and 260.
When I watched his clips he was doing other things besides
dunking on everybody. I really wanted him because he gives
the Cats a physical presence underneath and you don't always
get that with an 18 year old. This class has to be one of the top
recruiting classes in history. Very exciting to be a cat fan right now.

Huge Lakers fan here and I hate Howard for multiple reasons... that said the dude carried the Magic to the NBA Finals. Beat a balling out Lebron in the Eastern Conf. Finals. If Bam is anything like Howard I'll take it any day of the week as should most of you!

I think the comparisons to Howard are based on how similar they look in the upper body. They both have "high shoulders" and are chiseled. I've yet to see any measurements on Adebayo so I can't comment if he has equal FREAKISH length that Howard has...

As players, they are very different. Bam is not a small forward, but he has more facing the basket skills then Howard. Also, Bam has better touch and will be a much better free throw shooter (in time) then Howard. In 5 years, Bam will be making 18-20 foot jumpers consistently in the NBA.

To sum it up... I think Howard's skills are closer to Shaq... and Bam's skills are closer to Blake Griffith. Bam has a superior first step to Griffith though....Bam's first step is UNREAL... it's small forward fast... similar to Randle's...

The comparison to Patric Young is based on his frame and muscles...I can see some similarities there... Although Young had T-Rex arms, Adebayo looks to have above average length... guess we'll have to wait till this summer (hoops summit or all star game) or UK's pro day to see what his wingspan and standing reach measures.... Patric Young only measured an 8'7.5" standing reach...

Bigger Montrezl Harrell.
Agree.

Some people on here might not like that, but it's a very good comparison.

He does show some signs of being able to develop more touch than Harrell has, but right now, he plays the same type of game- rebound, dunk, be a pure physical force in the paint. People downplay those type of guys in a lot of cases, because their games can look artless and brutal, but there just aren't a whole lot of players who have the ability to play like that against the top athletes in the sport. Adebayo should be one of those.

You guys are missing the obvious. He's an over sized Jackie Moon
