Bam Adebayo would like to play with Marques Bolden

I think getting another shooter is more important than getting another big. Bolden would be nice, but I think SKJ is gonna be better than a lot of people are expecting.

I know we're still in it with Simmons and Alkins but idk which is the purest shooter of the two.

I've seen both in person and I would take Alkins any day. Simmons kinda reminded me of Ryan Harrow. Didn't do anything great. Alkins is a Aaron Harrison type of player. Not a great shooter but is clutch and is known to be a scorer.

I have to believe that Alkins will end up in either UNC or NC St. Hard to imagine him playing with so many great players.

The more I see of Bam, the more I think he looks like he is the most NBA-ready player Cal has got since Wall. I saw where he is now projected #1 in the 2017 draft.

We have 12 that are almost for sure going to be here next year, with 2 players possibly staying (Skal, Briscoe)

I don't see us taking any commits unless both of them declare for the draft. I know everyone is expecting Skal to still go based on potential, but I don't think it's out of the question that he will fall to late in the first round if he doesn't improve. I do look for him to improve, but it's not out of the question that he won't. I don't really have any idea about Briscoe's projection or intentions.

Depending on who stays and goes, Cal may be out of 2016 Scholarships

I guess Cal would know better than anyone. Would he be recruiting Bolden if he didn't have room?

Floreal can go off scholarship, if necessary.

Things happen with players who do not "cut it." Mulder might transfer. Things like that happen for every program.

Lots of ways to solve "numbers" problems.

It will all work out if Bolden wants to come here.

Simmons is another guard who cant shoot. Alkins is a good 3pt shooter. Honestly I'd love to see us add a senior transfer who's eligible day 1. There's plenty of pure shooters transferring from smaller schools each year. But I'd love to get Alkins.

Next year's team is going to gobble rebounds like pacman gobbles ghosts.

Yeah I'd like to see guys take rebounds away from Bam like OSU was doing to us the other day. Next year's team will have a level of toughness, aggressiveness, and physicality thet we haven't seen here in a while. Especially if we get Alkins. Which is still VERY possible

UK is sitting at twelve 2016 scholarships now without Ulis and Skal, right? Do you think both of them will leave for the Draft next season?

Yes, Ulis and Skal will both be drafted. Though Skal isn't playing great his potential alone will get him drafted. Ulis' position will not get any better than it is now.

Briscoe is projected mid-late first round.

Briscoe and Skal are gone. 7 footers with Skal's offensive potential don't come around every day, and Briscoe lacks the one skill that is most easily taught in the NBA: shooting.

Ulis is gone as well. He has proven that he will be serviceable second unit 1 in the NBA. Another year in college does nothing for him.

Unless Ulis wants another real shot at a title. I know in a cynical sports world overseen by cynical sports fans, thinking anyone would want another season for the sake of a title and a closer step to a degree is unfathomable.

Isn't that right, Patrick?

People say that last statement all the time, and yet if Ulis draft spot went up even 2 or 3 spots a year from now, wouldn't your statement technically be false?

Is there any scenario where Skal doesn't declare and comes back?

Yep. The scenario where he decides he's not ready and tells Cal he wants to return.

I'd also love Alkins, but I'd also be good with Bolden. Put Bam at the 4, Gabriel at the 3, and allow SKJ a year of getting stronger. SKJ has the same frame as Skal and Willie when he was a frosh. SKJ might not be ready in year one.

Willis, Monk, Mulder (assuming he advances enough in a year to contribute on a nominal level) and an improved Matthews should be enough from the perimeter. Fox will find them.

If Briscoe leaves, I could see Cal adding one more guard as a shooter, but unless the kid is a deadeye graduate transfer, I'm not sure what good it would do adding anyone not named Alkins to the backcourt/wing.

I love the kid's game. He's like one of those early nineties brick house demons that would just destroy opponents physically.

It's win-win. If either of them leave, UK can land Bolden, Simmons or Alkins to take their place. If either of them stay, it gives UK another super team.

I'd actually put the smart money on Skal returning over Briscoe, although they're both likely gone. Skal just seems so timid. I'm not sure he'll be mentally ready by the spring. That aspect is really the only chance he has of returning.

I'd be fine with Bolden and a transfer shooter. Don't need a big minute guy, just another wing that can occasionally fill the other spot opposite Monk when teams play packline defense against Kentucky.

I hate to feed the Kansas troll, but anyone who thinks Cal couldn't find a way to make room for a top 5 center is smoking tainted ganja.

Fair enough, but I mean as a whole. He's predicted mid second round. Highly doubtful it gets better than the second round. Heck Isaha Thomas (Boston Celtics one) was a second round pick he plays a lot like Tyler.

I agree, plus Skal might even TELL Cal he wants to come back even if he's still projected high. He seems like the type of kid that would.

I'm so frickin giddy about our class, at this point I don't give a crap which of Alkins, Sinmons, or Bolden we add to it. Any of the 3 would be the cherry on the icing on the cake.

Not a chance. Only players that might come back are Ulis and Lee. I would say there is a 60% chance Ulis comes back and a 40% chance that Lee comes back.
