Does anybody remember if Alex played at the 4 in the Bahamas? I'm hoping we see Alex play like he did in the Bahamas next year. It's looking like we are going to need it. It seemed like he reverted back to playing passively when Trey joined the team and Alex was moved to the three spot.

If Poythress plays the 3 next year, it's because we didn't get Ingram or Brown. Poythress albeit a tad undersized, is a 4. He makes up for his height with long arms, strength, and elite athleticism.

Well who is going to start at the 4 if Poy is our 3? I'd assume Poy at the 4 unless we get another talented frosh big guy that could start, but I honestly do not care for the oversized line up after it was exposed a bit in later rounds of the NCAA Tourney.

No Lyles, No WCS, and I think the platoons were Dakari, Poythress, Booker, the twins, and then Towns, Lee, Willis,Ulis, and Hawkins.

The ball movement with both those groups was superb. But exhibition games are very different.

If we get Diallo or Maker, it's going to slide Poythress over to the 3 unless we get Ingram or Brown. Personally, I'd like to have Diallo. Diallo is long enough he can guard some 5's in a pinch to give Skal a breather, and you could move Poythress over to the 4 slot. Poythress and Diallo could share 4 minutes, and Diallo and Skal could share 5 minutes while Skal was on the bench. That's how I think Cal would sell it anyway. In a dream scenario (for me), we add Mulder for shooting, Ingram for the 3, and Diallo for the 4. I know some will say Skal is not a 5, but who else is going to play the 5? Marcus Lee would be in the mix as well.

Alex was our best player in the Bahamas and was very effective in all but the last game there. To me, regardless of the way the rest of this class rounds out, he needs to be our starting 4. We either get Ingram (Brown doesn't seem likely) or play a 3 guard lineup. Alex could give us some minutes at the 3, but he is clearly more effective at the 4.

Good points. I assume Skal is 100% our starting center. I'd say Poy is near 100% the starting 4 unless we grab Diallo or Maker as you said. I think you make a great point on the minutes. Those three could all get about 27 minutes each when you figure 80 minutes at the 4/5, which is 27 per at 81 minutes so almost 27. For big men, especially two frosh, that is plenty. Obviously near the end of the year one or more may deserve 30+ or more.

I think if we add Mulder and could grab one of those two bigs for 2015 we'd have a pretty good team. Not close to a "sure thing" but after this past season there is no such thing as we know.

I think a big assumption to all this is that Alex will be back at 100%. For as long as Alex has been post surgery, it concerns me that he still walks with a limp. There is still a long way to go in rehab and there is a big difference between rehabbing for the local Y league and rehabbing for major college basketball. I find in interesting that there hasn't been a lot said about the progress of his injury.

BBM is half a year away. Poythress has tons of time to get back to 100%. I'm sure he will be fine.

The big assumption is that Poythress is coming back at all.

He has yet to make a decision, yet everyone acts like it's a given that he will be returning.

Where is he going? Over seas?

Poythress will be a beast next year and there's no one we can sign that will start over him in the fall.. That could change as the season progresses but Poythress will start at the 4 this fall.

Where are the Harrison twins going? Neither one will get drafted but they left school early anyway.

Poythress could go overseas for a year or 2, or just spend the year rehabbing his knee and go work out for some NBA teams.

There are other options besides returning to school.

Saying that the twins will go undrafted is just your personal opinion. Nothing more, nothing less. Poythress was a 2nd rounder before he got hurt, so to think some team is going to draft an already 2nd rounder on a bum leg is just ridiculous. So yeah, if Poythress decides to leave like you presume he could, it would be to go over seas. And I don't see that happening.

It's the opinion of most NBA execs and any legitimate mock draft out there. Andrew is a very late, almost dead last 2nd round pick. Aaron isn't even listed.

Personally, I think they both go in the 2nd round, and eventually make a team. Poythress would be in the same situation, and he would probably make a team, but he's not even going to get drafted in the 2nd round on a bum leg. He needs to show NBA scouts that he's back at full strength, is not prone to more injuries, and still has the same elite athleticism. All of which I think he will do at UK next year.
