There's a great comment by Professor on Catspause about this.

It was interesting. When kentucky lost the #1 status, they actually played better than the spread given by Kenpom and Virginia played worse, but for some reason Kentucky's numbers all went down (while Virginia went up).

I don't know the detail, but there's a option to adjust certain factor, and that's being played around by Kenpom.

I believe the disconnect was due to opponents' play.

2012 was #2 in offense, #8 in defense. Interesting.

I still don't think UV is our biggest threat to a title. Wisconsin and Duke are both better teams, I don't care what records or stats show.

I would think the Texas big win over WV would also help KY in the Kenpom ratings.
