whenever cal decides to call it a quits (God forbid). I wouldn't mind this fit one bit. I feel like if anyone could continue what cal started it would be him IMO. With his pro experience, pro coaching success, and Kentuckys tradition. I think he could have similar recruiting and coaching success to cal at a place like here. Thoughts?

My thoughts are you're kinda dumb. What do you base your thought that he could have recruiting success here on? He hasn't recruited at a high level at bama so far. He had marginal success in the NBA for like 2 years, is improving Alabama but currently coaches a team with 11 losses that we just beat by 25. And again he hasn't shown and recruiting ability to speak of.

So I can't think of literally any reason at all to think about him ever coaching here.

Ok op you had one really bad thread already this may not help the cause. The last thing we need to worry about is uk's next coach. If cal were to hang em up today, I assure you Payne or someone hand selected by call will take over. He's not going to let them just pick his predecessor and him not have a say in it. I guarantee Avery wouldn't be on that list

I think he has potential to be a good coach for Bama but let him coach for a couple years before we think he could replace Cal. Hell he hasn't coached through his first year yet.

I like Avery johnson but time will tell how he does at the college level. He did get Terrance Ferguson ( rivals # 12 ranked player ) away from Kansas for next year. That makes me like him a little more =)

I have no clue about the next UK coach and I'm hoping we don't have to think about it for a long time, but... I really do like Avery Johnson. I always liked him as a player. He seems to be a good coach and a players' coach. I'm not sure how he'd do at UK. It's a unique job that requires a unique personality to really thrive in it.
