Coach Stoops has made a request of fans to support the team & the program. This request comes at the start of his 3rd. year as head coach. He qualified his request by stating that he didn't do so the first two years due to the quality& depth of the program. If you haven't noticed his demeanor, he sounds very positive about the product that UK will put on the field this season! Lets demonstrate our support by making every home game a "sell-out"!!!

Yes it is time for all the fair weather "fans" to get in and when & if this thing is turned around then you can say you never left and have been with coach Stoops and the team from day ! Maybe with $5 tickets and a free concession stand pass some of them might

For the season the attendance and support will definitely be better, but for the opener probably not gonna be a sell out. It's tough to sell out a bad game even when you're a traditional power. I'd expect 55K though.

False. Practically all SEC schools sell out their first game, regardless of opponent. It's even worse that UK is opening up a "new" stadium, having a concert, and still not selling out. Embarrassing, really.

Labor Day weekend. Not an excuse for most of us, but for some students, it's a go home weekend. Still, if we start winning , Football games will be where you want to be. I've Seen it before.

No. But they'll come out of the woodwork if the team begins to win. Fair weather fans are a fact of life in all programs. Stadiums are built to accommodate them during good times and tickets will always be available.

Student tickets are sold out. It's the sorry, "I want to have an SEC-championship football; team, but I only want to pay $10 a ticket, have a limo drop me off at the stadium entrance, and have Mitch personally inspect my ass for moisture when I wet fart" crowd that's not showing up. You know, the ones that will scream the loudest when Stoops decides to move on because of the lack of fan support at UK...

If you go to the link to Ticketmaster from UK Athletics.com and look for single game tickets for the ULL game, there aren't many left. Looked to me like well less than 1,000. I expect the stadium to be near capacity on Sept 5th.

If he wins, that will change. As for the $10 guys.....my generation and the generation before mine were willing and capable of paying more for leisure than today's young family guys. Times have changed. There's not as many good paying jobs available for today's grads. I know many highly educated young people who've taken jobs that pay $10 or less. At least they're not sitting around hoping to draw a check.

When my kids were young, it wasn't that much of a strain to buy tickets but for one of those guys described above, shelling out $40,$60, $80 for 3 hours of entertainment (granted, the best entertainment in all of sports) is a big deal.

How many student tickets were sold? Wasn't the allotment for students reduced? IMO, there should be 10K students at each game. IMO, They have nothing better to do.

For me it is not a young family, but we lost 60% of our income when my girlfriend got hurt at work and had to apply for workman's comp. Of course the hospital she worked for is denying that and she had to sue them, that was November of last year and she isn't due to finally get to court until November of this year. That is a year without income of any kind since you cannot draw unemployment while out with an injury. I may or may not be able to get tickets but if anyone wants to donate me 2 tickets I can guarantee I would be there LOL, even if in the nose bleed section. Go Big Blue, I guess I will listen to the game on radio since my satellite was cut off because we had to cut costs. Oh well, better days are ahead for both me and UK football is how I see it!! You can't get me down, just explaining why I am likely to not be there. I am not asking for pity, because I have my health and my family. Life is still good and things could be much much worse. Praise God

Bama had 1,500 unsold last year, Florida 8 thousand, aTm 2 thousand, LSU 2 thousand. I'm not beating my chest over it saying it's a great thing, just that it's kind of a widespread thing even at elite football schools with elite tradition and culture. By the day of when there's between 55 and 60K people there and we miss a sell out by a few thousand it won't be a sign that there's no support from the fans.

Win and they will come. We win 6-7 games this yr and we will see plenty in attendance......and next yr will be beserk.

It's pretty simple, you win games and the games will all be sellouts. Hell, this game may end up being a sellout anyways as someone said under 2k+ left to go and it is only Tuesday.

As of now on ticketmaster best available tickets for 2 are in sec 207 row 38. Not sure how many rows there are up there or where visitor seats start.

From what I just heard there is only around 200 or so tickets left and they are all on the visitor side of the stadium. It will be a sellout no doubt.

indeed, does sound like the late $25 discount ticket offer is helping to fill the place. great job UK fans.

I'm betting this sells out. Keep in mind there is a large base of fans that don't buy tickets ahead of time. I'd only worry about unsold tickets at this point if there are something like 20k of them left. A couple thousand isn't a big deal and they will be sold on game day if not before.

Good point...Most people don't even realize average pay wages haven't gone up in this country in over 30 years to keep up with inflation.....Think about that. Is it any wonder you've got graduates living in their parents' house today.

I heard from Clinton and Bush for 16 years that "free trade" is good for us. Really?

An opening game against lowly competition on Labor Day weekend is a hard game to sell out for a lowly competitive home team. UT is opening with Oklahoma and Vol fans are fired up, but we don't have that luxury to schedule an opening game like that....yet.

Lots and lots of folks have plans with family coming in or going out of town themselves. I'm out of town right now, but flying back early by myself to make an appearance at a reunion and then go to the game.

I had to check the UL board - they are talking about over 4000 tickets left to be sold. Boy, they are obsessed with how many tickets we sell. I hope it is a sellout to shut their mouths. Go CATS

Hey, here is WildCard to talk down to us, but oh yeah he is a good poster. I wish we could just eliminate the trash UL fans, truthfully they are all trash, that come over here.

Not that it matters any more, "summer build up and opening day enthusiasm" was one of the arguments for opening with UofL. I recall MANY here rebutted that "UK did not need anyone special as an opener because there would always be great interest in the football opener". FWIW, there has been a lot of excitement in the Cardinal community about opening with Auburn this year.

Peace

Making UL the final game of the year was part of the conference's preference for that week being rivalry week. Neither UK nor UL had a say in the game being moved to the end of the year.

And there is just as much excitement from UK fans playing ULL as there is for UL fans playing Auburn. UL is having more problem selling out their opening day tickets than UK is. Which is kind of sad if you ask me.

UK doesn't need anyone in particular for the first game. UK sells tickets in Commonwealth not UL.

If less than 2000 tickets, it will sellout. Several folks will get the last minute itch to go to the game and find tickets on the street or ticket office at the stadium before the game starts.

as usual WildCard is awful. Excited about your season opening, are you? Then I'm sure Houston week 2 is already sold out, standing room only? UK is likely going to be sold out for its season opener against a non-power conference school member, so surely the excited UL fanbase will do the same in 10 days, right?

Biggest UofL troll on this board, and many think he is "friendly"...

It's only good for us in that we can still go to Walmart and buy cheaply made stuff at a low cost.

Per Ticketmaster there are only 33 seats remaining where there are two or more seats together. There are 40-50 singles through out the the stadium. Other tickets are available through the resale market.

UK Tix just tweeted that there are mini season ticket packs still available. Not sure how that figures in the total available ticket count?

And, like clockwork. My company, and most every other large Louisville area employers just issued a dirt cheap giveaway for the UL homegame against Houston next weekend. $10 apiece, can get up to 4. Some UL fans & UL media (same thing, har har) are making light of UK's likely sellout against a non power-5 opponent, meanwhile they seemingly are thousands and thousands away from selling out their home opener.

Yeah, I'm sure if anyone wants to pony up for season tixs or mini packs that they'll fit you in. Could also be that those mini-packs don't include this game. There is some K-Fund seating in the lower bowl that is still open that wasn't put on Ticketmaster...those seats will probably be used to comp some "guest" and don't need to be assigned until game day.
The big picture is the stadium will be full if not packed.
I'm stoked and ready for gameday!

But expanding the stadium is such a great idea for them.
