At least we aren't Memphis fans.. LOL

Great thread.

Yes, it could be worse. Memphis is out of consideration for the big12, and it looks like Uconn and cincinatti will be added. That leaves Memphis forever a mid major. And trust me, their fans absolutely hate it.

In time, they will be longing for the day when they can say the words Calipari and Memphis in the same breath. But, of course, the bridge is burnt.

Suck on it UM.

Pastner has absolutely robbed UM.

Can anyone think of a coach who's robbed a school quite like that? It's worse than Tom Crean Indiana. Way worse.

Btw, Stop by their message board sometime for a laugh. I love it.

Memphis gets blown out at home by 20.

I believe the last time that happened was the Johny Jones Memphis team 17 years ago.

Good gawd Pastner is awful.

Calipari will make sure Pastner works, we may see him. If you listen to him he sounds like the nicest guy ever. Obviously, he and Cal work well together. Supposed to be a great recruiter, maybe he could take some of the workload off Cal. The fresher we can keep him the better.

As I said in the other thread, I doubt it. Pastner negatively recruited against cal during the whole Barton recruitment. Not to mention, Pastner did cal no favors this last go around when they invited/uninvited cal to commemorate Cals team.

He's a lute Olson guy anyway. I look for him to be back on Arizona's bench, or a super small West coast school takes a shot at him.

I love it just because of how butt hurt, jealous and delusional some of their fans were until Cal won the title in 2012. They were here constantly slamming Cal and talking up Pastner.

They thought they were really something as a program and were too blind to see it was almost ALL Cal minus that stretch in the 80s that's also, coincidentally, stricken from the books. I never had a problem with Memphis before we hired Cal and that fan base started acting like scorned ex-girlfriends. Those idiots couldn't understand UK is a destination job in college hoops. Memphis is not.

They made it to the championship game in 1973 too. They're not a blue-blood by any means but Memphis has a pretty good basketball tradition.

I missed that and sure didn't know about the burned bridges. Maybe that is why he was giving Calipari and not Memphis credit for their earlier success. Sucking up to Cal now. I think Cal holds a grudge for life if you wronged him. He will head somewhere but not as a head coach. Loyalty matters.

You really hearing UConn and Cincinnati to the Big 12?

Sounds like that conference is getting desperate.

What other choices are there though if they want to expand, which they need to so they can have a championship game in football. It's getting to be pretty slim pickins'.

Heard something recently that Texas may try that deal with the Pac 12 that was talked about a couple of years ago.

Actually sounded pretty cool.

Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State would join Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and Arizona State in one division of a 16 team conference.

Not sure if true, but I read this on twitter:

"Learned 15 minutes ago that Josh Pastner's buyout is $10.6 million and I only just stopped laughing enough to be able to tweet this"

Yep and Olsen has publicly stated he does not like Cal. Did not know he was negatively recruiting against Cal, as he has went out of his way to praise him in public. But you know Memphis better tan anyone on here and flat out stated that Skal was going to struggle a lot more than we thought soon after he signed even though it was against the grain of what was being said about him on here and elsewhere. Not that you've ever had a problem going against the grain on here lol.

That's according to guys like mike Decoursey. People in Memphis feel that way too.

The big12 is getting very desperate. Half a decade from now I doubt they are a league anymore.

finally an accurate column came out about just how Pastner has raped a top program down to the bottoms in just 7 years.

I can't post, but it's on the CBS site. Pastner has a 10.5 million dollar buy out. the biggest ever in coll bball. no way UM can pay that can get a quality wow hire.

the wow hire is Pearl. I was in Memphis when Pearl did there mid night madness . I said then Pearl was interested big time. had 1 more year on ban , then UM could hire him. the way Pearl was kissing the fans but and admin, but mostly because he was just there told me he was a sure thing. and at that time a Lott of rumblings about JP. in my mind Pearl was staking his claim for the next year when most like me thought Pastner was gone. instead UM gives Pastner A huge extension , and Pearl goes to Auburn.

today Pearl has a 5.5 buy out that UM would have to pick up. so he is out by numbers a lone.

after Pearl you gotta start looking at up and comers looking for a huge pay raise. as much as Pastner says no one wanted to follow cal, now not sure how many want to try to clean up the mess he is leaving behind.

a name that just keeps coming back is Penny. I love Penny but it would be a huge mistake. penny is not ready for it. you would have Penny a HS coach with the Lawson's Dad a HS coach and Prob bring in another inexperienced asst. not good when trying to rebuild.

The buyout was a complete joke. It just shows how pitiful their program is ran. They can't afford Pearl even though they want him badly. I think it's hilarious considering when he was at Tennessee how bad they thought of him.

The crazy part is they are considering penny hardaway who's never coached a day in his life. Other coaches they we considering is Miles Simon, another guy who's never coached.

Their program is finished for good. I dought they ever make it back.
