They go to UK. There face pressure everyday. 40 scouts make no difference IMO!
Nature of the beast here. The true great ones relish these opportunities the false ones fold like a 2-7 off suit in texas holdem or fold up like a breakfast burrito! I say Murray will be all right hell he dominated against men in Pan Am games. Murray will be fine.
But it does make a difference imo. Sure they were told about it and probably prepared for it but to actually be put in front of it for real has to put pressure on a kid.
Pressure is being in your 50s with a mortgage and two kids in college trying to hold on to a job in a dying industry. Being 19 and playing basketball in front of a bunch of people deciding when and how to make all your dreams come true is fun.
Nope not really. They chose uk for a reason. And as the poster above said, that isn't pressure.
Better they get all these pressure situations in now so that they're used to it by the time March rolls around.
Cal has already had a pro scout day the weekend of his coaching clinic. I seriously doubt scouts in the crowd have any impact on any of our guys at this point. Its talked about regularly and the players that come here do know what they're walking into.
Has it impacted Skal? I will say he is playing tighter than early on. But with Cal on your back, if any of our guys are thinking only 30 games to go, then they're not giving it their all.

the only negative IMO is; if a player starts playing to impress the scouts. I think Archie did this at times.
Pressure is leading a platoon of men into battle where all their lives depend on the decisions you make. Having a job and kids is fun.
It's all in perspective.

Real pressure is a hooker having a .22 on your crotch demanding $10,000 because she spent all her money already and now doesn't have it to pay her pimp and you only have $5,000 to your name.
Which head would you rather have? Lose one and life is over but there's no pain. Lose the other and you stay alive but then life ain't really worth living. It's all about perspective.
That is why these 5* top 20 players want to come and play for UK, Duke, etc. is to get that NBA exposure as a Freshman. They know that at most Kentucky games Home or Away there will always be NBA scouts sitting in the stands. These games now that Coach Cal has setup with the Champions Classic and the CBS Sports Classic will always draw most of the NBA Scouts to these games when you have UK, Duke, Kansas, and Mich. State in the Champions Classic and UK, UCLA, OSU, UNC in the CBS Classic.

I think it was Lee Trevino that said pressure was putting for $2 when you don't have $2.
That's very similar to the situation some of these kids are in. Only they are putting for family too.
