Are We Going to Sell the MOH Game Out?

Just sneaking a peak at some posts, and talking to some non-season ticket holders, we might just sell-out for an opening MAC opponent!!

It would be a first for many a season!

Yeah, we used to sell out, or damn near sell out for U of L openers, but for Miami of Ohio??

That would be amazing and would be the first time I can remember (maybe ever?) selling out a game with a GO5 school.

We got close in ‘06 (larger stadium) for the day game with a Louisiana G5 school, securing bowl eligibility barely out scoring them in a score fest.

But even in our better years, you typically saw an empty corner or two for G5 teams coming to town.

-1st preseason AP top 20 team in 44 yrs for UK
-AA QB in Levis
-AA RB in Rodriguez
-Shutdown D with stud players all over the field
-8 of 12 reg season games in Commonwealth Stadium including Georgia
-No reg season games v Bama, Auburn, Texas AM, LSU or the Hogs.

Not sure about Auburn, they aren't in the preseason top 25. Some touts think they will finish last in the West. I think it's likely they struggle some.

If the students show up it can be done. They should be good for 15,000 or more. My granddaughter attends the USAF Academy and they require all students to go to the games. And the students love it. Of course we can not expect UK to make it mandatory for students because to attend the AF Academy you have to be an athlete and participate in sports. So they are sports minded to begin with.

But still, UK students come on out and have some fun. It beats hanging around in a dorm on Saturday.

I think the “opening game” of the “new” stadium against Lafayette was sold out. Southern Miss (ugh) was pretty close too.

Sell out? Excitement or not, against this competition, I doubt it. FWIW ticket sales were about 36,000 one week before last year's opener with LA Monroe link

There was a time (back in the early 70's) when Miami of Ohio had some really good (i.e. top 20) teams. They laid a very embarrassing loss on UK in '74(?) but those days are long gone.
