Archie Goodwin Buzzer Beater

He has all kinds of potential. A guy who didn't deserve about 90% of the flak he got on this board. He played his ass off for us and still does in the league. Archie had a very inconsistent jumper and low ball iq. But he is coming around with Bledsoe out and getting plenty of clock. Love that Suns backcourt. Now they need to draft some UK big men. Maybe they will wait til the next draft though lol.

You're absolutely 100% right. The one time in my life I had a "source" that knew Kenny Payne and he said Goodwin brought it in practice 100% of the time. There were times he tried to do too much and he didn't get yanked because his efforts as always there. Glad he's doing well.

Great for Archie! He has all of the athleticism and skills to be an NBA starter. Glad to hear he's getting an opportunity to showcase his game.

I feel like he had a big influence in Malik Monk becoming a Wildcat.

Archie caught a lot of hell his one season here. The kid caught a lot of hell like monk in Arkansas for choosing UK.

I never hated on the kid for his effort. I hated watching him play, though. It was like he had blinders on. Jamal and Briscoe have the same problem sometimes. The problem is that you can see the other players lose interest as the game goes on. Well he's never going to pass it, might as well stand here and watch.

Proud for Archie he's been solid whenever giving minutes but Hornacek puts him on the bench a lot because he isn't a good shooter from outside . Glad he had this moment and also 24 points .

Isaiah Thomas tweeted out that he was happy for Archie taking advantage of the opportunity

If you look at Archie's stats at UK it is crazy that he is so hated by the fan base, There are not many who give Archie any credit. He worked his butt off game in and game out for a very limited team. There has never been a best player on the team so criticized as he was. He basically had no help on offense at all. He was a two guard who had to play the point as Harrow was a disaster. He was in the backcourt with Harrow, Mayes and Polson.

His last 8 games, which was a quarter of the season, he was 45-90 from the field and scored 125 points. 125 points on 90 shots is incredible!
So this "selfish ball hog" who played "out of control" averaged 11 shots a game and scored 16 a game the last quarter of his freshman season!

You know what they say...lies, damn lies and statistics. Did you not watch the games? He led the nation in one-on-three drives to the basket. With predictable results. Very hard to watch over and over and over again.

Good for him. He made some bonehead plays at UK but was the only player on the team who could actually make plays. Never frustrated me watching him.

Someone once said, "I can't coach you".

archie was outstanding at UK, the only bright spot for that team after NN went down. i remember cal the whole season talking about how hard archie worked, lived in the gym etc, and how bad he wanted to win. sure there are flaws in his game, but he's going to be successful despite them because of his work ethic. here's a suns article from his rookie year that echos everything cal said about archie, including the "i can't coach you", ie "constantly trying to teach him what a good shot/bad shot is"

Anybody that says they didn't like Archie is very ignorant. He had nobody besides baby Willie and Alex. The two losers didn't help at all(harrow and wiltjer)

Archie could be frustrating at times, but he literally had zero help.

He also played hard on defense, he was a kid that wanted to win very badly.

It is a shame we didnt have a point guard. Teague returning would have made a world of difference.

With Nerlens' and Archie's will to win, that team could have been S16 easily and maybe E8 with Cal and a decent PG.

24 points and the game-winner. Not a bad night.

Archie played out of position because Harrow quit the team a few times and he had to. I didn't hate the kid. I just hated watching him play. Two different things.

Archie's going to extend his NBA career at least a few more seasons with a 2 to 3 year deal. If he ever makes the three consistently, he could evolve into double digit scorer somewhere.

Agreed, and with the way the '13 draft was historically weak, Teague might have very well found himself within the top 20 of the draft, playing for a team that needed him in the NBA as opposed to being Derrick Rose and Kirk Hinrich's third string backup.

I think Teague surprised the staff when he left and ti was obviously not a good decision.

Shane Larkin was the 2nd TRUE point guard taken at #18... Marcus had a chance at the lottery in 2013.
