quickly is #1 and I expect 3 more in the next 6 weeks with a possibility of a 5th one. the Kansas chatter was all misdirection. rumors are true about shittu and barrett . but its more about handlers than anything not really the kids. long story to say the least. that should tell you all you need to know about rj barretts recruitment though. . hes coming guys. shittu would have been a beast at uk but things just didn't work out. tell me how many schools could pass on shittu , louis king, and naz reid . that's all 5 star players uk could have had had cal choosen. those 3 ALONE would have been a top 4 class. that's insane and people really don't really appreciate what cal does. it will never been done again so please enjoy it while he is here. these next 2 classes back to back are gonna be truly insane. duke and k will put to shame during the first signing period and then again when cal locks up 2 or 3 2019 kids this year. cal is locked and loaded and the plan is starting today at 6. I expect another one in next 2-3 weeks if not sooner.
Not as confident as you about all of that, but is seemingly true that Cal has always had an answer when Duke has seemed to gain an edge in recruiting. When Duke snagged Ingram in 2015, Cal got Murray shortly after. When Duke pulled the Tatum/Giles combo in the fall of that year, Cal shocked people by snagging Bam. And then there was Knox.
And it is surprising that Cal has pretty much passed on all 3 of Reid, King, and now Shittu. He must feel confident about certain things.
Cal Knows who he is getting. Class will start coming together tonight. Come on down W, B, B and J. Oh, almost forgot maybe G.
Cal loves chasing these kids. If he somehow could get back in the race for Bol and I think he might, WOW look out. Like the OP pointed out if he already passed on 3 5* prospects, so I too think something good will happen. Just don't have a time table and not clear on who all we will sign in November. Thanks to both posters here!
These are all great points we need to reiterate on this board when everyone goes all pms duke. Logic tells you if we haven't even offered some of these 5 star guys California knows something. More goes on than we will ever know on this or any site and I think the dominos start to fall tonight
My question is, what does California know about UK recruiting? And how can we get access to their sources?
Honestly, I have heard the kid talk on several videos on his recruiting and every time they tried to make CAL look like the bad guy coaching the USA team and him not making it. He repeats telling them that Cal didn't have much of a choice in picking all the kids, and that Coach Payne told him personally that he should have made it. I don't think CAL has ever been out of it for Bol Bol, but we will see soon I believe.
Would love to believe that about Bol but sometimes these kids just hold grudges they can't let go of no matter if they are founded or not. And, they may not talk about their true feelings openly interviews. We may soon know and, as I said, I really hope you are dead on.
It was either Shittu or Barrett. Rumor is they don't get along, something happened during the last season they played together according to some coaches and former players at The Florida school
It been a rumor for quite awhile but I still remember the rumor that the Harrisons wouldn't play with Randle, so we will see soon, someone will know the truth.
Just my guess, I'm saying:
Quickley- already locked up.
Grimes- great fit at the 2, backup 1.
Johnson- don't see Barrett and Williamson sharing the spotlight, so Johnson takes Barrett's spot.
Williamson- will be the focal point of the offense in 2018-19.
Bol- not recruiting any other elite big man, so Cal must be pretty confident.
Hayes- need at least one 3-4 year guy.
That's a really strong group to pair with Green or Gilgeous-Alexander, Baker, Killeya-Jones, and Wynyard.

We talk about how we lost a coach in the past and some thought it hurt us, when we lose Payne they will realize the real hurt if and when he leaves
How much respect do you have to have for a coach that doesnt just let you on the team bc hes recruiting you? Granted theres a committee that selects the players, but you gotta respect the fact Bol didnt make it just because. Cal is known for challenging his players, and that is a huge challenge. If Bol were to accept that challenge, he could be a great player here.
I don't think Cal had any input on whether Bol made it or not was my gest from what Payne said.
