Anyone see Sacha Killeya-Jones play in Somerset today?

Game just started and he looks great so far. Playing Prolific Prep who is loaded with athletes, including Josh Jackson. I'll let you know Sacha's final line.

Who knows how much Skal would have benifted being in a good high school program and actually playing with and against good competition. He basically sat out all of his SR year.

Did the Vanderbilt kid play tonight too? I heard he was a Kentucky lean.

Just left the game and Vanderbilt's team, Victory Prep was playing Deandre Ayton's team. Vanderbilt is also a high riser that can finish in traffic and handles the ball very well for 6'9" player.

Ayton stood around the perimeter shooting jump shots for most part. After watching him in warm-ups...he can really shoot it for a big man. There is a reason he is ESPN's number 1 player in 2017, but I didn't see any post ups inside.

Also watched Trevon Duvall and Billy Preston play. Duvall can fly down the court with the ball and finish around the rim in traffic and Preston was the MVP of the game. They're a couple of prospects that I'd love to see Calipari reel in for 2017...and after talking to couple of guys from Tanager Sports, they told me Preston has a UK offer along with Duvall. Preston (ESPN no. 6 in 2017) has an NBA type body already and hopefully he will commit to UK.

After watching all teams play this weekend I came away most impressed with:

Miles Bridges- best player there, kid will go up and get you boards and punish you at the rim. He showed the ability to knock down the outside shot-- game reminded me a lot of Randle grant it I do believe Bridges is a bit shorter-- HP is a very nice team and he has a ton of shooters that compliment him-- including Curtis Jones IU signee-- wish we could've snagged him over MSU--

Billy Preston- very happy to see this kid was on campus yesterday-- he was impressive with his ability to do everything-- rebound in traffic, capabilities of knocking down the 3 ball, able to start the break after a rebound, physical player-- game reminded me of Poythress (size wise) with better handles-- his team is loaded with Dural, Ferguson (Bama commit), Vital (Baylor commit).. give this kid some love-- i liked his game over Vanderbilt and Jones fwiw.

Deandre Ayton-- special talent, huge upside, 7'1 and long with range, great on the defensive end w/blocks-- can see him staying as the #1 prospect in the 17 class-- UK needs this kid! -- he did like to shoot the 3 ball a lot-- showed nice touch but would've liked to see him demand it more in the low post. Overall kid moves like he's a forward only to forget he's not.

I was most impressed with these 3 players from the weekend.

Killeya-Jones finished with 19 points and 17 boards. Showed nice touch from inside 15 feet.

I would've liked to see him more aggressive on the boards-- seemed to shy away from contact and often tried to get run outs before his team could secure the rebound-- he probably played on the least talented team there so he was double teamed a lot but did not see the fight and want to in the boards when comparing him to players like Preston, Bridges and even Vanderbilt.

He did show some solid mid game in warm ups but in the game he settled for the dirk fadeaway at times. This could've been an unusual game for him as he did seemed to be getting bumped and hel

He could turn out to be a multi year guy which is perfectly fine and what UK needs.

After his game he was wearing UK attire.

My brother, a retired coach, worked the training room taping and icing. Said he worked with Maker. Said that Maker, Bridges, and Preston were NBA in 2 years. Was not impressed with SKJ as compared with the others. He described SJK as similar to Marcus Lee. If true, we really need Bolden.

Agree 100%.. Bridges/Preston most definitely. Maker most likely due to the "potential" factor. I loved Maker in that he was very talkative for his team, especially on the defensive side of the ball. He had two huge blocks against Hillcrest

The Lee comparison seems pretty good, I would say Lee is a better shot blocker though. That could've been an outlier game for SJK though. I think he can be a great player, but, from what I saw I certainly wouldn't expect him to be an inside presence next yr that UK fans are going to want. haha.

SKJ is a typical long athletic PF that can move his feet to guard on the perimeter with ball screen switches, make athletic plays in paint. But he is not a sure fire upgrade over Marcus Lee next year...even with Lee's limited offense and foul prone nature. We don't know of SKJ's motor is better than Lee or his second jump like Lee's on shot blocking/rebounding.

UK needs Marcus Lee to come back and bolster the back up unit next year with his experience and energy.

Marcus Lee seems like an inaccurate comparison considering Jones is said to be pretty good at putting the ball on the floor and driving and having a midrange game. I'd assume that he'd be a lot more advanced offensively as a freshman than Lee even is this year, but he'd probably need to work a lot on his low post game.

Skal was said to be all world and a #1 NBA pick...

People who are saying they seen Sacha play and is soft is the kind of players Cal gets and we have losses in SEC play on the road. The kind of losses that have us a higher seed in the NCAAT when we could just recruit harder working players.
